Gasol is terrible leading that 2nd unit. He doesn't demand the ball at all. It is like the guards don't respect him when he is leading it. I agree Kobe and Gasol shouldn't be benched together, but I just wish we could never bench Kobe.
Don't blame Gasol. Guards need to recognize and know how many shots the bigs have gotten and keep getting them the ball. Hard to believe that a true PG like Farmar does not recognize that. (Fish not so much since he is more a standstill guy not the main distributor.) People call Gasol "soft" in part for what not demanding the ball? But he's at the mercy of his teammates, he does not bring the ball up. Wonder what his assists to TO ratio is but I'm sure its pretty darn good for an inside player. Bynum, not so much because he fumbles the ball alot and puts up awkward shots that are out of rhythm.
I agree with this statement. The guards are doing a terrible job of re-posting the big men on the Lakers. The interior passing has also been non-existant. I've only seen them execute it twice in the Denver series. I'm wondering why PJax hasn't paired Odom with Bynum more during this series because they do a better job of playing off one another. Last night Drew/Gasol combined for 14 out of 18. 8/24 perimeter guys.
Yeah, Gasol is awesome at the low and high post both backing down and facing up. He IMO is the 2nd best offensive "Center" next to Yao. Just don't let him settle too much for those jumpers. And I've said this alot of time already, we need to use Martin and Andersen's over zealousness of wanting to get blocks to our advantage, maybe to draw a foul or pass up a jumpshot to give it to our open post players after faking them out.
Absolutely. The best move against an overzealous shot blocker is a pump fake or jump right into their chest. You have to know Birdman is going to come flying in from the weakside if you're in the paint. Simple fundamental basketball elludes the Lakers too often. How about boxing out the Birdman for once?
Yeah, I know. I can't count how many times I've sweared after seeing Andersen fly through either to get a block or to get an offensive rebound cause no one was boxing him out.
The only players on our team who can consistently make good post entry passes are Kobe and Luke. Two.
I cringe when Fisher has the ball in his hands trying to make a play for a teammate or himself. If he doesn't get bailed out on a foul call it usually results in a turnover.
Don't forget, it could be a missed shot too. He has had so many open looks but keeps clanking. Right now, the only way he can score is to drive, but his drives look so sloppy.
