Source: ESPN I'm not sure what to make of this formula and the results it produced. I'm also not sure why it's based on a 40 MPG variable for the sample size of games with the score 5 or less with less than 5 minutes. I think a better formula would be the stats produced during those 5 minutes when the score was 5 or less.
the per 40 minutes is just a way to equalize the stats for people who've played different amounts of minutes in the clutch. what are you asking for? per 5 minutes? if so, just divide by 8.
I think this article is terrible, not only is plus/minus one of the trickier statistics, Kobe's sample size and opponents he has played is far more impressive than others on that list. What he was able to do against that fantastic Houston D was underrated, and his stats are clearly more impressive than various players he's ranked "behind".
Lolz, this must be a pretty significant list since Garnett is there and he had such a big impact in the playoffs! Oh wait =O.
Just searching ways to trash Kobe. It's no question he's the best clutch player in the NBA. If anyone could make 7minute long videos of clutch shots of somebody else, i'd be very very very impressed
He's taking the stats from those entire games (quarter 1, quarter 2, quarter 3, quarter 4 and OT) instead the stats for only 5 the last minutes of those games.
Half the guys on there were on the Olympic Gold Medal team. Who was the player they turned to down the stretch to win the Gold medal?
