Re: UFC 99: The Comeback (June 13th) Notes on the event: -- Rich Franklin moved up to light heavyweight following his second loss to Anderson Silva, but in the two fights since leaving that weight class, he's only competed once at 205lbs., defeating Matt Hamill in September, and losing to Dan Henderson at middleweight in January. Franklin and Silva meet at a catch weight of 195lbs. for this fight. Silva has been telling the media he is willing to bet $50,000 that he will knock Franklin out. Oddsmakers currently have Franklin as a 3:2 favourite. -- Undefeated heavyweight prospect Cain Velasquez was scheduled to meet Heath Herring on the undercard of the event, but Herring withdrew from the fight last week. Taking his place is French kickboxer Cheick Kongo, who lost to Herring by unanimous decision last March, but has won his three fights since. The dynamic of the fight has changed drastically for Velasquez as a result of the substitution, and with only three weeks to prepare. -- Mirko 'Cro Cop' Filipovic makes his UFC return at UFC 99 where he faces London Shootfighters product Mustapha Al-turk. Cro Cop and al-Turk both lost their last UFC fights to Cheick Kongo. In his brief hiatus from the UFC, Filipovic had two wins and one draw. Filipovic defeated Tatsuya Mizuno and Hong Man Choi in Saitama, Japan. A no-contest was ruled in his September fight with Alistair Overeem due to groin strikes. al-Turk is a Cage Rage veteran with a win over Mark Kerr, but he is 0-1 in the UFC. -- Dan Hardy called out Marcus Davis following his impressive knockout win at UFC 95 in London, England. Hardy referred to Davis as a "fake Irishman", referring to Davis' nickname, The Irish Hand Grenade. Davis was born in Houlton, Maine, and claims that his lineage is from Waterford, Ireland, but neither of his birth parents are Irish or of Irish descent. Davis is 8-1 in UFC competition while the newcomer Hardy has won both his UFC fights. -- Former lightweight contender Caol Uno returns to the UFC after a five year absence to face Spencer Fisher at UFC 99. Uno has competed for K-1, Shooto, and Dream in the meantime, putting together a 10-5-1 record with notable wins over Mitsuhiro Ishida and Ivan Menjivar. Fisher last competed at UFC 90 in October where he submitted Shannon Gugerty by triangle choke, picking up the submission of the night bonus in the process. The Brevard, North Carolina native has never fought outside of the United States in his eight year pro MMA career.
Re: UFC 99: The Comeback (June 13th) This card will be awesome, I can almost guarantee that. Franklin and Wandy will stand and bang We get to see if Cain is for real Davis (probably my favorite fighter)and Hardy hate each other, and will be both throwing bombs Cro Cop is back This card should be really fun, though I'm kind of surprised it's not a free view on SPIKE.
Re: UFC 99: The Comeback (June 13th) What was the last free card they offered? UFC 95? It is about time they offer another one. I think Franklin outpoints Wandy because he is more technical, but I wouldn't be surprised if Wandy clips him and finishes him with some brutal GnP.
Re: UFC 99: The Comeback (June 13th) Just got really confused, I had forgotten that Kongo was replacing Herring, and in the notes it still says Herring, and the commercial on Versus while I was just watching some WEC said Herring too so I was really fucking lost for a few minutes.
Re: UFC 99: The Comeback (June 13th) I thought this one might be free, but they decided to make it a PPV. I like afternoon PPV's, acutally, then I can go out and drink on a patio that night instead of being cooped up indoors with hooting manbabies.

Re: UFC 99: The Comeback (June 13th) It was unclear whether Cro Cop would be involved in this event, but now it is set, he will be. Also, the UFC has reportedly only sold half the tickets with two weeks remaining until the event.
Re: UFC 99: The Comeback (June 13th) It was unclear whether Cro Cop would be involved in this event, but now it is set, he will be. Six fights are going to be televised at minimum. Also, the UFC has reportedly only sold half the tickets with two weeks remaining until the event.
Re: UFC 99: The Comeback (June 13th) High-powered boxing enthusiasts in Germany are doing everything they can to shut down this UFC event. They want it to fail, completely. They've even compared it to human cock-fighting. Boxing is Germany's choice sport when it comes to combat, I think this could be a one and done thing in Germany for the UFC. Stick with England and make your way down to Brazil, finally. Can you imagine the show they could put on in Brazil and the ratings they could get? Thiago Silva, Anderson Silva, Wanderlei Silva, Lyoto Machida, Shogun Rua, Big Nog, and more. Come on, go to Brazil!

Re: UFC 99: The Comeback (June 13th) I wish it were free, but I still like afternoon PPV's. Then I don't have to spend my Saturday night watching television in a pub.

Re: UFC 99: The Comeback (June 13th) - Kongo has a pretty good size advantage over Velasquez - Roli Delgado looked like Skeletor and did the "I'm nervous, going to shove you for no reason at the weigh-ins" routine - So did Denis Stojnic/Stefan Struve - I had heard that Mirko Cro Cop was shredded for this fight--he isn't - Ben Saunders isn't much bigger than Mike Swick, surprisingly - Rich & Wand both looked good
