Dejuan Blair only 6'6, dang. Helluva wingspan though for that height.

I always thought Thabeet looked shorter than he was credited for being...

    Notables:

Blair: has a 1.5" standing reach advantage over Griffin. I thought Blairs numbers looked solid.

Psycho T: 6'9.5" in shoes with longer arms and reach than Griffin. I'm not saying he is better than Griffin, just that he isn't undersized for the PF position. I kind of hope we pick him up as our backup big.

Lawson: over 6' in shoes and has a slightly longer wingspan than his hight. Still short, but not too bad.

I did a simple comparative between the 30 players listed and the other pre-draft measurements in DX's database (based on cumulative % differential of barefoot height, wingspan, and weight). Please bear in mind that these are independent of athleticism or game style--just size) Here are the closest recognizable similarities:

Ty Lawson: Jameer Nelson, Jay Williams, Ray Felton
Jonny Flynn: Same as Lawson (their measurements are very similar)
Patrick Mills: Dominic James, Taurean Green, Dee Brown (2005)
Darren Collison: Luke Ridnour, Jannero Pargo, Allen Iverson
    Eric Maynor: same as Collison
Jeff Teague: Mike Conley, Chris Quinn, Devin Harris
Stephen Curry: Ramon Sessions, Luther Head, Monta Ellis (closest comparison was Zach Marbury--never heard of the dude, but he MUST have been a total headcase!)
Marcus Thornton: Javaris Crittenton, Joe Forte, Beno Udrih
Jrue Holiday: OJ Mayo, Flip Murray, Jarrett Jack
Jermaine Taylor: Rodney Stuckey, Malik Hairston, Bryce Taylor
Gerald Henderson: Byron Mouton, Morris Almond, Dwyane Wade
James Harden: Mardy Collins, Caron Butler, Ronny Brewer
    Tyreke Evans: Same as Harden
    Sam Young: Same as Harden
Wayne Ellington: DJ Strawberry, OJ Mayo, Daequan Cook
Terrence Williams: Dahntay Jones, Michael Redd, Keith Bogans
Dejuan Blair: Joey Dorsey, Lonny Baxter, Jason Maxiell
Demar Derozan: Bobby Jones, Kyle Korver, Luke Jackson
Chase Budinger: Matt Carroll, Brandon Roy, Trenton Hassell
James Johnson: Sean May, Wayne Simien, Paul Millsap
DaJuan Summers: Lebron James, Darius Songaila, Michael Beasley
Omri Casspi: Sun Yue, Kyle Korver, Marko Jaric
Gani Lawal: David Lee, Pops Mensah-Bonsu, Jeff Green
Tyler Hansbrough: Pops Mensah-Bonsu, Eduardo Najera, Mark Madsen
Blake Griffin: Carl Landry, Udonis Haslem, Al Horford
Earl Clark: Jeff Green, Marvin Williams, Amare Stoudemire
Jordan Hill: Amare Stoudemire, Tiago Splitter, Jared Jeffries
Austin Daye: Anthony Randolph, Brandan Wright, Trevor Ariza, (nobody was very close though, because Daye's weight is SO low compared to his height)
BJ Mullens: Greg Oden, Chris Kaman, Nick Collison
Hasheem Thabeet: Brendan Haywood, Eric Chenowith, Michael Olowokandi

Sorry for the long post, but I find this stuff fascinating.

    Hello darkness, my old friend
Isn't Zach Marbury that cousin of Stephon Marbury that Portland had in training camp or something 5 or 6 years ago? I vaguely recall something like that.

Anyway, thanks for the research. Hard to know exactly what to do with those measurable comps, but Patrick Mills being closest to several non-entities may suggest that point guards of his size don't tend to do well, for example.

It's much more fun for me having compiled all the data, because I can look at things in so many different ways, like seeing that Blake Griffin is much more similar physically to Lebron James than to Dwight Howard, or that Chris Paul is closer to Patty Mills and Stephen Curry than Lawson or Maynor. Again, doesn't necessarily tell you a whole lot, but it's interesting (at least to me).

DeMarre Carroll measured out pretty well. That guys going to be awesome. Hopefully the Bulls lock him up at 16.

Thabeet, Blair, and Mullens had some good measurements. Of course the bench press stats aren't out that, so some of these bigs could end up looking weak.

Bulls are positioning themselves for 2010 to sign Lebron, Amare, Bosh, Yao, Boozer?, etc. while retaining Gordon. With Rose/Gordon/ say Amare you have three offensive juggernauts. You're going to want to fill in some tough, defensive minded players around that.

I always preferred Leo Lyons to DeMarre Carroll out of the Missouri guys, but Carroll has been looking good in workouts from all reports, and has improved his shooting.

Once you get in that 15-30 range, it's really just about taking who you like. Logically, as Carroll is seen as a second round pick right now, it would look bad to pick him 16. But if you wait to take him at 26, he could easily be snatched up by one of the teams in the late teens early 20's.

He reminds me of Nocioni, only Carroll will probably actually play defense.

I don't think Sergio Rodriguez has any value. Trading down from 16th to 24th, while picking up a second round draft pick, or something of that nature, would be better for the Bulls then taking on Sergio's salary.

Yea that is good. Well, at least they didn't answer "Tying up strippers in a Portland Motel, and speeding down broadway at 110 in a hummer with a bag of pot in it."

If you recall, I made a thread about Carroll right after watching one of the NCAA games earlier this year. I was really impressed by his hustle, motor, and finesse (he made some good cuts and one time beat a defender while handling the ball around the foul line).

I would still be interested in him. Haven't seen him play much (only 1 game) but he seems like a good player who fits the mold of the "successful 2nd round pick". We should nab him in the high second round if he's still there for sure! Maybe with our first-rounder if we like him and think he could fill the backup PF spot well.

Whoa. I think Carroll will prove you wrong. The dude's very talented. I liked him at Mizzou.

Interesting. Ty Lawson grew a bit...

    Last year:
    5'10.75" -- 5'11.75"

    This year:
    5'11.25" -- 6'0.5"
