Now that I'm out here, I'm thinking of giving it a shot. Shoot, I'd go just to see Rubio wheel and deal. http://www.lasvegassun.com/blogs/sports/2009/may/29/2009-nba-summer-league-tickets-sale-monday/
Just to watch Rubio? I'd rather wait until the regular season when the Kings play us As for making the trip; I heard Martel is actually going to be out, Nic is out, Rudy is out, Freeland is out, that leaves Jerryd and a bunch of D-league scrubs and undrafted borderline guys and whomever we draft this year. I think I'll just stream the games for free on NBA.com
I went a couple years ago. It was really fun. Lots of basketball. You see some old timers in the stands some times as well. I won't go this year because of other commitments and it looks like Portland's team will be minimal.
Will Rubio even play? The Eurobasket tournament will be held in early September, so I assume Rubio and crew will be training from August onwards. The SL is held in mid July, but Rubio might opt to rest up before the games. Side note: France (Nic) and Finland (Petteri) will attempt to gain a spot in the same tournament by playing qualifying games in August. England (Freeland) and Spain (both Serg and Rudy) have already qualified.
Hopefully after Portland gets Rubio in the draft, he'll play in the summer league with Bayless. That'd be fun.
