That is, of course, if private companies continue to exist in the USSA.

Kind of lame-o...I mean look at Orlando, their arena is called "AMWAY ARENA"....how lame is that if they had an AMWAY ad on their jerseys?

That literally pissed me off when I saw that. Wow that better not happen here. I could MAYBE live with a small logo of an advertisement like a patch. but replacing the team name and city name.. not ok :tsktsk:

    Hello darkness, my old friend
Then we'll have state-sponsored NBA jerseys. Except the NBA won't exist as private company. It'll be "Coming Soon: State Sponsored USBA Jerseys."

Which is a classic step on the road to serfdom.

I was having a good day but now I'm crying inside.

Were going to have "It's Comcastic!" instead of Portland on our Jerseys!!!

Then on the back of the jersey under the players name it will say Listens to 95.5 THE GAME!

I be willing to pay extra just to not have to see advertisements of my favorite players! Bad move if NBA does this.

D*mn... this doesn't suit the NBA. we'll look like the euroleague with the branded jerseys... The arena's i can take (e.g. Staples, United Airways center, etc.) but the jerseys... come on...

Up next our whole "player transfer" system will be like soccer's... no limit and no respect to contract.

I think with anything we would all get used to it.

A Nike logo under the number on the back of Portland's jerseys wouldn't really bother me. Logos all up and down the Blazers warmup suits wouldn't bother me either.

It's funny. Just because "The Road To Serfdom" was linked to here as an illustrated book, it's used as a punch line. Freidrich Hayek's book is one of the most influential ever written. It's worth reading in it's text form.

Fuck it. If we're going for a sponsor, I want a completely phallic theme. I want Trojan, Levitra and Extenze.

I know the tv sponsors haven't made a dime off of me because I've tivoed right past almost all tv advertising. (I begin watching the game around half time, and by the end of the game it's pretty much live.)

TV advertising is becoming a charade anyway the way it's currently run. They need to do away with traditional commercials and go entirely to in-game advertising. Whether it's on the jerseys, a little ad in the corner, a super-imposed image digitally added to the court--whatever.

They need to make advertising tivo-proof, not just in sporting events but in all TV programming. It's amazing how much money is spent on TV advertising, and how little mental energy is expended in bringing advertising delivery into the 21st century.

Back to the point at hand--if they did away with commercial breaks and went just to advertising on jerseys/etc, I'd be ok with it.

Would you rather see logos? Or teams go out of business and not play? It's gonna suck if they do it, but we gotta do what we gotta do right?!

No but obviously there are enough problems financially to make the NBA consider this. They aren't doing it for fun ya know.
