Outlook: Blake Griffin is with out a doubt the best prospect in the 2009 draft and the consensus #1 pick overall. Blake was the 23rd ranked recruit out of High school according to Rivals.com and was ranked lower than fellow draft mates James Harden, Nick Calathes and Jonny Flynn. However, Blake has worked hard to establish himself as a top player in the NCAA. Blake saw an increase of 8.0 PPG and 5.3 RPG from his freshman to sophomore year and was the AP National Player of the year.

Blake does so much well that it can be difficult to pin point anything he does wrong. He is a freak of an athlete and can jump out of any gym at any time. He is an outstanding rebounder and has a knack for finding the ball at any time. Blake also plays well within a team system and does not need all the touches to be effective and he is willing to do the garbage work as well as being the top option. Most of all, he is a good kid. He represents Oklahoma, the Big XII and the NCAA with class and plays the right way. The late Wayman Tisdale would be proud of the young Blake Griffin. If the Clippers do take Blake, he has an attitude that could change the culture in Clipperland.

Where Blake needs to improve is his free throw shooting. Now I'm not a basketball coach, but his free throw release is kind of unique. Once he gets in motion he stands on his toes (not balls, full toes), and even though people seem to have their own methods, with his strength and his legs, maybe a modification to his motion (shown in video below) could increase his %. He also needs to become a better shooter from long range. He needs to do this because he needs to keep defenses honest. He also has a tendency to turn the ball over.

i concur- basx is a forum wide disgrace. moreover, i dont like the mcdyss (sp.) comparison because mcdyss is long as well as freakishly athletic but his offensive game wasnt as polished as griffin's. i think griffin is much more karl malone

    lol, love you too

I see the Malone comparison and I personally see him as a hybrid between the too and closer to Dyess earlier in his career.
