Come offseason, who would you rather have? Terry is younger, but comes with a higher price. Cassell is older but would be cheaper and the better pg. Right now, I'm leaning on Cassell who does everything Terry does, but comes cheaper and might be the better tutor for Harris.
We'll see come playoff time. Cassell is a proven clutch player and is a great playoff player. Terry has only been in one playoff series, but showed his great playoff potential. Only problem with Terry is that he'll miss free throws in crunch time (i.e. Golden State game and 3-6 in the two overtimes in the season-opener from the line).I'm just going with The Jet because the Mavs are assured of a great regular season and playoff greatness. Cassell guarentees playoff greatness, but you just don't know if he could work with Dallas or not...
Cassell was the better player but he is aging rapidly and is very injury prone. I would take Terry for next year.
This discussion would be better for comparing Terry and Harris. Give Harris a few occassional starts for more development, or get more wins?
Next year he should start. He is ready. It was borderline this year but I expect Harris to keep improving and Terry's defense isn't that good.
Terry got owned last game on defense against the Magic. He can't keep up with the quicker guards in the league.
Yeah, that's true, but we'll see how this all works out when the Mavs and Clippers series begins. The two main matchups in that series will obviously be...Dirk Nowitzki vs. Elton BrandJason Terry vs. Sam Cassell

Cassell is not injury prone, and he's seems to be doing well for his age leading the Clippers this year. Cassell has interest in Mavs, and it's a good possibility if Terry goes, Sam would be our next best option. <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>He's a clutch defender, though.</div>Um no he's not. He's on par with Nash almost with what I've seen of his defense. I thought he would be better but he's not.<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>W0@h, you think HARIS should start?Woah, man, that's a little too deep, there...</div>It will be 3 years then, Harris needs to be starting or what was the point of drafting him at 5. He's already the better pg then Terry, and plays defense.
Lolz, HANDS DOWN!? No way...career-wise, Cassell HANDS DOWN, but right now... it can go either way...

Yeah, yeah, I did, but he's probably going to retire within a couple of seasons. Terry still has many juice years left.
I would easily take Cassell. He has an extremely high IQ along with one of the best midrange jumpers in basketball. I'm not too big of a fan of Terry.
Yeah, but we're getting a 60-win season + playoff production with Terry. Why not take that instead of taking the risk?Anyway, THIS WILL ALL BE SETTLED IN THE FIRST ROUND. I just want to win it.

And how's it a risk?<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Anyway, THIS WILL ALL BE SETTLED IN THE FIRST ROUND. Cassell and Terry will cancel each other out.
I'd just rather keep Terry, a guy with WAY more years, than Cassell, who knows he'll have to retire soon...
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>I'd just rather keep Terry, a guy with WAY more years, than Cassell, who knows he'll have to retire soon...</div>Cassell has at least 2-3 years left in him. And Terry is someone I see replaceable since he will be coming off the bench. For the price, Terry should not be lock to sign when there's cheaper options who can do what he does.
