I'd spout some can't reveal my sources bullshit, but I'd come across like an asshole, and I don't have any sources. I'd say take it with a grain of salt whether it is true or not, but I do recall hearing it a couple of days before the draft. I don't bvelieve we had an official workout with Bayless last year, did we?
FYI Name the pro who started out with a 27.9% 3 PT percentage in his rookie season, whom is well known for his long range shooting in his long NBA career? He ended up over 40% career 3 pt shooting wise 3 point shooting can be learned..... just ask Rod Srtickland as well... Bayless can still get ur dun'
If you said you had sources you didn't want to reveal that wouldn't make you an asshole. I'm just asking where you heard it.
anyone care to check curry's numbers when he played against good competition? he was horribly inefficient the majority of the time when he played major conference schools. you do have to take into account that he was the main focus of the defense and had very little help, but it still isn't a good sign.
Seriously, I wish more people would realize this. Curry will not be playing for the Blazers next season.
I heard it today ... I think it was Jonathan Givony from draftexpress.com when he was on Wheels at Work this afternoon.
The only thing that's the same between Curry and Bayless is that they both can score at high rates. Bayless is a slasher that can knock down open shots, but his release point coming out of college was a little too low for any coach to like but he was able to get away with it against inferior athletes. On the other hand, Curry has a much better stroke and it is definitely quicker with less effort. You can use the stats argument all day that Bayless is just as good of a shooter, but if you actually watched both of them in college, it's clear cut Curry is the better shooter. The guy was the focus of every defense Davidson faced, he faced double teams, and even triple teams, the last 2 years. Curry even tore a new one for last year's great defensive wing prospect Brandon Rush. Passing wise, Curry is a much more pure PG than Bayless will ever be. Curry has a much better understanding of the game, and doesn't force as many things like Bayless. Even when Bayless was playing PG for Arizona when Nic Wise was hurt last year, he was still the attack mode Bayless that showed up in summer league. Bayless simply isn't a passer, the guy is a scorer and actually is probably better suited to take over when Roy is out of the game. Bayless simply needs the ball in his hands to be effective and be the top notch scorer that he is, but Curry is someone that will benefit from playing with Roy and Aldridge since he can spot up and knock down shots from the break of dawn until sunset. Curry was probably the 2nd best player in college hoops behind Blake Griffin, and he was Davidson's whole offense this past year. Curry literally would get the outlet, bring it up, and then either create for his teammates or get his own shot. His rest was when he was able to let the back-up Division II quality PG bring the ball up and then he had to work off the ball. Most of those percentages from this year were on very weary tired legs and he even was working on a bad wheel for a good 2-3 week stint. Bayless is great at creating for himself, but he has nowhere near the same court vision Curry possess. Bayless is still a better prospect though because of his superior athletic ability for the guard position, and is a nice combo guard. His strength and quickness will allow him to be a great defender on this level but Stephen Curry is the much better fit next to Roy, and is a pretty big upgrade over Steve Blake if you ask me. But realistically the Blazers have nothing they are willing to give up to move up in the draft above #8 where Curry won't last past.
Dick Vitale claimed Curry had the greatest court vision he's ever seen at the college level. Just recalling this from memory.
