Can Blake Griffin turn the Clippers around? He seems to be a dominating player and I do not see how anything besides MF surgery in his knee (honest, that wasn't a poke at Oden, honest) he should be able to help them out immediately. They have a pretty talented roster and a good coach. As long as they all stay healthy.

    Davis\whoever
    E. Gordon\Freddy Jones
    Thornton\Roach
    Griffin\Z-Ro
    Camby\Kaman

If they can manage to get rid of Zach and get a decent backup point AND stay healthy... they should be pretty good, right?!

I just posted this for discussion sake. I am curious what ya'll think.

On paper you would think so. Is he long enough to be effective at the 4 though? I know he only measured at 6' 8.5".

There are some long PF's in the west especially.

they need primarily health...and probably more depth in the back-court. ZBO won't be a good trade asset until the next year when he's a 17 million dollar expiring. B-diddy is too injury prone...

Griffin wasn't much of a defensive player in college and I doubt that will change in the pros where most every starting 4 is taller and longer then him. That the rest of the Clips lineup is defensively lacking doesn't bode well for him turning their ship around. As far as I've seen, dude lacks a reliable jumper so his production will have to come inside. He's got bulk, good hands, and explosiveness, so he should be able to battle inside and board well on both ends... but probably he projects mostly as a deluxe garbageman on offense.

I do agree that if they fare better with injuries they should be decent... like on the cusp of the playoff race

    7"1.25" w/o shoes

Griffins height was w/o shoes either.

    That team has no defense.

IF, they are all healthy and clicking, they will be able to score in bunches, but can't and won't stop anybody - I mean anybody.

Entertaining, but losing basketball is the best that team can hope for.

I just don't see how Griffin is going to make such a big impact in the NBA. He could be the ultimate garbage + energy guy, but with his limited height and shooting touch, I just don't see how he's going to change the face of a franchise, especially the Clippers.

    Hello darkness, my old friend
I don't think Griffin is a franchise saviour type of #1 pick. He's a good prospect, but I think he'll be a fringe All-Star in his prime, nothing like a superstar. I think he could be similar to Paul Millsap (Griffin is a far better-regarded prospect than Millsap was, but Millsap has far exceeded expectations).

Millsap is a very nice player to have, but not a player who's going to transform a franchise.

clips should trade the pick. they're running their workouts at the gym I'm doing a trial at......but yeah..they need some athletic wings and depth like nothing else.

They are better then they were last year, but not really good. They won't be able to guard a chair. They still have Dunleavy who is able to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory whenever possible. Davis will quit on them again if things start to go south.

Oh, and do you really think Stat-Bo is going to be cool coming off the bench behind a rookie? Not a fucking chance. Talk about a split locker room.

Frankly, I don't believe any team that has Shit-Bo on it will be any good. Now, if they ditch Z-No, then maybe they have a chance. What can you really say about a guy where every team he has ever left got better after he was gone?

You can say he fucking sucks ass. Z-Bo, sucking the life out of teams since 2001.

the clippers were much better this year with ZBO than without. Same with the knicks.

Yes. I think that Griffin is a Michael Beasly-level prospect, personally. I don't see any of those three guys (Griffin, Beasley, Millsap) as players that are going to turn things around single-handedly.

    No.

    Knicks with Shit-bo 2007-2008 23 Wins
Knicks without Z-Ro 2008-2009 32 Wins (+9 after he leaves).

    Clippers Without Stat-Bo 2007-2008 23 Wins
    Clippers with Z-No 2008-2009 19 Wins (-4 with Crap-Bo)

Not sure where the teams got better with him.

talking about records within the same year. the clippers went on a huge losing streak when he was out. remember, he left mid-season. different coaches, different players on both of those teams from 2007 to 2008 seasons.

I was talking strictly about record. If you look at the stats on 82games both teams were better without him.

For the Slippers, a large number of guys were injured at the same time so I don't know if the whole impact was him.

Frankly, it is amazing that anyone would come to this idiots defense. I watched this jackass live around 60 times and he is much worse live then on paper.

Watching him fat his way up and down the court was horrific.
