What position do you think the Mavericks go after in this draft?center, foward, or guard??i think they use their first round pick on a shooting guard or a international player that can stay in europe a few seasons and then bring him over when they need him.
They should draft a SG probably, but their might not be alot of them available. a guy like Paul Millsap shouldn't be out of the question. I say they should pick Millsap or whoever's left between murice Ager, Hassan Adams and Rudy Fernandez.
Probably a a 2/3. Idk about an ineternational player that leaves to Europe then comes back. Mavs already have enough project players on the team, so I say just draft a regular college guy. As of right now, no names come to mind
I think Rudy Fernandez would be a great fit for Dallas. From what i've read in scouting reports, he really knows how to play the game. He should make an immediate impact. here is nbadraft.net's scouting report ob him:Strengths: An impressive talent, wise beyond his years ... Seems better every time you see him ...He has a wonderful bag of tricks, especially offensively ... Excellent one on one guy ... He knows how to take what the defense gives him, knows when to pull up, when to drive and when to pass... In his first "true" year, he had a fantastic season, putting up over double figures in scoring in the most important (toughest) league in Europe ... He has good numbers, but you have to see him play to truly understand how talented he is ... He is so fluid, so composed, so smooth and always under control, he makes the game look so easy... He is not too aggressive but not afraid either ... He makes great decisions, and never gets out of control, which is incredible considering his age ... He has such a court awareness, and always knows how to make the right play, without thinking of himself ahe puts the team first ... He could still be growing and has long arms which add to his length ... He has been playing at the SF spot for Badalona, but can handle either guard positions as well ... Unlike many players as athletic as he is, he doesn't rely on it ... He uses intelligence and skills instead ... Has good quickness and speed and is extremely fluid ... His first step is insane, as is his ability to start and stop ... He's always on balance ... Really excells when pressured and understands how to handle a press ... Stays within the system well ... Uses screens well to gain separation for shots or drives ... He doesn't like to drive into traffic because of his skinny frame, but he is not afraid of contact and if he sees daylight he'll go to the hoop fearlessly ... He has great skills (like Navarro of Spain) to let the ball go early against big men ... He loves to take the big shot and excels in important situations ... He has nice change of speed with the ball in his hands and very good ball handling making him dangerous with the dribble. He also passes extremely well, beating the double team and finding the open man ... He has great vision, he doesn't look for the "oooooh" pass, but the easy (and right) one?. Very good free throw shooter ... In the open court he can lead the fastbreak or fill the lane? he likes to run and the main thing is how fast he is able to change from defense to the break ... He can come off the bench and get into the flow of scoring very quickly ?. He can defend bigger players and quicker ones ... Has very quick hands, and reads the passing lanes, and can rip someone from the dibble ? With Badalona he lacks touches, because he is not the star of the team. But he is showing glimpses of what the future has in store and that is great things at the highest level: NBA ... Weaknesses: Physically he must get stronger ... He still can get muscled around because of his lack of physical strength ... Doesn't blow you away with athleticism ... He's not a huge leaper, but is a nice athlete that can get to the rim without any problem ... In the NBA he will struggle defensively until he gets stronger ...
Nice information there, nba dogmatist.I think Dallas has enough at center (Diop is only 23!!), power forward (If AI is 33, averaging 30+ PPG, and his game relies on speed, that means Dirk has 4-8 good years left), small forward (Josh Howard is 25), and point guard (Jason Terry has many good years left, and Devin Harris is becoming a great player), but shooting guard is unclear.I mean, we have Griffin, who will ALWAYS be a good defender for the rest of his career, and then we have Stackhouse, who is getting only getting older, and then Marquis is a young guy, but has been getting injured.Final word:We need a point guard PASSER. We can move Terry to move SG, and have Harris or that rookie as a starter.
What about a guy like Allen Ray? Or even Guillermo Diaz. Both are solid shooting guards that Dallas could use.
I like Mislap if we want to fill our backup pf role, or Diaz to be the combo guard off the bench for us, who can fill in at either pg/sg. Also, he could take over DA's role of being the energy guy off the bench. Another name I like is Marcus Slaughter. If we want a swing, we will need to trade up I think. Because drafting one in the late 1st, will he be any better at sg then Stack or Daniels? We need a starter quality, that's why I rather look for bench need then starter in draft. We will need to trade for quality at sg.<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>What about a guy like Allen Ray? Here is what Dallas needs for the off-season (not in any specific order)1. A passer2. A reliable shooting guard3. A defender
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Here is what Dallas needs for the off-season (not in any specific order)1. A passer2. A reliable shooting guard3. A defender</div>Care to be more specific on what positions? What do you mean in passer? PG seems fine, and defender where? And I disagree on reliable shooting guard, it should be starting quality shooting guard. Daniels/Stackhouse fit reliable.
I think Dallas is okay right now with defense. didn't Avery Johnson say Marquis Daniels was the team's best defender? Josh Howard is also a good defender. They do need a distributor tho.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Fine, a defender who can pass. Mavs need more APG.</div>So you can add it as a stat to your sig? Our offense doesn't generate a lot of assists because of the slashers on our team. Also, when we feature a lot of iso's for guys like Dirk, Terry, Howard, Stack, Harris, it's hard to rack up assists. And I think you basically described Devin Harris, whose a good defender at pg and can dish. So I don't know what your talking about adding.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Alrite, yeah, I did, but we need to sign somebody else and get KVH a small contract.</div>Or how about we just draft someone. We only have the MLE, LLE and the min/vet to work with. KVH should go, small contract or not.
Rok you mentioned Paul Millsap. I wouldnt mind having him on the Mavs roster. Drafting him pretty much means Van Horn would walk off the team. But for Millsap, hes a consistant guy, he will show up every night and do what he has to do. This guy is a rebound beast, that would be a great plus....offensive or defensive. Idk about his defence, he just stands out as a rebounder to me, but he score pretty well also. Only thing that conserns me about him is that he is in the WAC...a pretty crappy confrence in Division 1. Which means to me, imo he hasent had to many challenges in his college career. He could be a player that might take awhile to develop as a pro. But if he is still an option and Mavs arnt looking in anyone elce in the draft, he is for sure a shot
Millsap would easily go around bottom 1st round. His stocks arnt that high, he doesnt stand out to big in the NBA world because hes not with a big name team
