i think Rashad Anderson would be a good shooter off the bench. prolly not a 1st round pick, but a good secound rounder in my opinion.http://www.nbadraft.net/profiles/rashadanderson.asp -Profile from nbadraft.netStrengths: Tremendous outside shooter ... One of the top 3 point shooters in college basketball ... Over half of his shots come from beyond the arc ... Clutch performer, stepped up big in UConn's championship run in 2004 ... Has developed a reputation for being unconscious shooting the ball. Doesn't get rattled in important situations ... Jim Calhoun calls him "the dagger" because of his penchant for hitting shots at key moments of games ... Has a chance to make an NBA team as a (shooter) role player ... High release point gives him an advantage getting the ball off ...Weaknesses: One dimensional player, outside of shooting the ball lacks great skills ... Does not pass or handle the ball well ... Lacks the ability to create shots for himself off the dribble, which is key for a scorer ... Poor decision maker passing the ball ... Struggles against quick and athletic defenders ... Not very athletic ... Lacks great defensive ability, slow foot speed ... Has an unorthodox shooting motion, but it's successful ... Free throw shooting should be much better for such a great outside shooter ... Notes: One of the top scorers for a championship contending team ... -Aran Smith 3/5/06Birthdate: 11/9/83NBA Position: Shooting GuardCollege: ConnecticutClass: SeniorHt: 6-4Wt: 210

We need that more then a passer.
We already have Dirk and Jet!I mean, we need somebody who is WILLING to find the open man, that's what I meant.
ok i cant remember where i saw it at, but i remember Rok saying that Brad Buckman would be a good pick in the second round for the Mavericks. Well that got me looking, and i think J.P. Batista would also be a great second rounder also.I think we have all pretty much agreed that they should take a shooting shooting guard with that first pick. of the guards, who do you think would be the best fit?Mike GanseyQuincey DoubyDenham BrownRashad AndersonMarcus ViniciusMaurice AgerGuillermo DiazTaquan DeanI was looking at Vinicius's profile and he looks like a great shooter, only thing, bad defender. might not be too good under Avery Johnson. I really like Rashad Anderson, Vinicius, and Ager. ok as for the 2nd rounder, Brad BuckmanJ.P. BatistaTaj GrayJustin Williams Vladimir VeremeenkoI got all this from www.nbadraft.net
I agree with pj and some of the others, we need another outside shooter more than a passer. Heck if we get a shooter, he more than likely will be a decent guard, and will get assist by virtue of the position he's playing.Listen Wagas, yes we have Dirk and Terry who can shoot outside, but who else? Stack is a slasher and mid range shooter, so are Harris, Daniels and Howard. Sure they occasionally hit a 3, but that's not there game. I don't see why you think we NEED those assist. We don't run a offense where we need assist to be successful. Besides, another shooter would make the ISO offense we run even more effective. I mean when Dirk or Terry, or Stack is running an ISO play, and they drive or whatever they do, there aren't 4 other shooters on the court, there's anywhere between 1 and 2 guys who can shoot. That extra shooter would come in very handy, especially with guys having off nights like they have lately. So I think the perfect player we could get is a 2/3 that can shoot somewhat like Terry, but defend like Daniels or Howard. That'd be nice. And oh man, Buckman in the second round would be a nice pickup as well. He'd be reminiscent of what Najera used to bring to the team. A high energy crowd favorite that's tough and mean. He's probably a better shooter though.
Supposedly Daniel Gibson may fall to us, I'd take him with the first round pick. We definately need to take a guard first round, with only two pgs expected to be here. Diaz is another name I like, also Dee Brown would not be bad either.Second round got me thinking with Batista as well, I like the guy and if we drafted him, Van Horn isn't needed. Signing Benga would make sense then. Diop/Damp/Benga, Dirk/Powell/Batista would be a nice rotation at bigs. And the Najera comparison is great for Buckman, but Buckman can shoot as well. Either guy would be nice in the 2nd round.
Marcus Williams, Not the one from UCONN, but the one from Arizona. Some places having him staying, but most have him entering the draft this year. He was a freshman last year. Most websites have him going in the late first round. I think he would be an ideal pick for the Mavs. Look at his profile on nbadraft.net and tell me what you think. PROFILE He is about 6-7 and can shoot the three really good. Last year he averaged 13 points a game and shot about 43% from behind the arc.
He looks like Devin Harris a little. I don't like that he's a freshman, I'm betting Mavs are going for ready for NBA guys, 4 year college players with their picks. We need a guy to step into the guard position next year, not someone to grow into it.
Even if we got that kind of player, we would still be low in assists because of our offense. So I don't think that is needed as much as a shooter and backup big man.
Wagas your the only person here who thinks we need a guy that gets assist, like it's the only thing holding us back, c'mon man.We need a guy that can take the pressure of Dirk, Terry, and Howard when he's in, a good energy guy off the bench.
Bumping the topic since Draft is coming up soon and just wanted to bring up a trade scenario Sam Smith brought up since Gordon is said to be involved in rumors. It was Gordon for Daniels and our first round pick(28th). I don't know about you guys but I would be all over that. He would fill our need for the shooter and would fit well in the three guard rotation I expect to see next year with Harris and Terry.
I've never herd of the Gordon rumor before untill you just mentioned it Rok. It would be a chance to take. I would really like his shooting to be on the Mavs. Big risk for Bulls, tradeing Gordon, big for their future and a 28th pick in a weak draft. Something to think about
^Agreed, but Daniels has tons of up side and potential, and they could always hope to land a guy almost as good as Josh Howard with one of the last picks.I think Gordon would be a nice fit here...great guy, both shooting, and defending off the bench, that'd be a better starter if forced to, than Stack. His outside shot would be a great compliment to Dirk's, Terry's, and Howards improving mid and long range game.
