B.S. Lots of people saw the shortcomings in their game before they were drafted and predicted that the wouldn't make the transition to the NBA.
This was definitely false as well... I didn't think Morrison or Redick would live up to the hype in the NBA. But I thought both would at least be good role players. I thought Redick could've been like a Kapono type of guy, and Morrison could've been one of those scorers who plays no defense. I'm not surprised that both haven't lived up to expectations, or draft positions, more so surprised that they ended up being scrubs. I didn't that would happen, but then again, I'm not much of a college hoops guy so I got more of my info from the media.
i think its pretty ridiculous that these two have hardly made any progress, but its also pretty stupid how we are expecting so much from two guys who were both chuckers in the ncaa. both of them had coaches who loved them, structered plays to open them up at the top of the key and good scoring stats. that is all really, essentially both of them only scored the basketball through the plays drawn up for them. I thought adam was better than reddick, and i think he might still be, but he also hasnt been given much of a chance to prove himself and realize his role in the nba. reddick was given a better chance, and adam been at the end of the bench most of his nba days. i think adam can still be a kapono type guy, but remember how long it took for a team to utilize that aspect of kapono's game, he played i think 3 or 4 seasons before he got a good solid role with the raps. even what wally szerbiak was doing for the cavs this postseason is a realistic outcome for morrisson. he still has a great 3 point shot so maybe if he gets it together, and he is still on an nba team, he can play a decent role for someone. he needs to end up with a team that needs him.
http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/players/4131/gamelog;_ylt=AkloZbnf5rOywb4fJqdG4W5VPaB4?year=2006 Morrison actually wasn't that bad his rookie year. He had some high scoring games, but the injury (caused by our own Luke Walton) has really set him back.
I thought Morrison would be a decent pro player, but you can never predict injuries and how players will recover from them. I think it was obvious JJ Redick would struggle in the NBA. He's only now figuring out how to be an effective role player in the league. He was damn good in the Celtics series annoying Ray Allen and also making big shots for Orlando. One variable often overlooked is the system a player gets drafted into. If JJ Redick was drafted by the Phoenix Suns three-ball friendly, run & gun offense he might be a borderline All-Star and the next "Steve Nash."
