Dude. That would seal Rasheed in the hall of fame. I've been chastised by some on this board for saying he's a borderline HoFer right now, but if he wins another title as a guy who's a contributing rotation player/starter, he's definitely in as far as I'm concerned. Ed O.
I am not going to argue this all over again (both because I found it tedious beating my head against the wall the first time, and because I'm well into my Saturday night prefunk and I don't have the patience to provide evidence at the moment) but all you have to do is look at where he is in terms of career stats and I don't see how you can make the statement you just made with a straight face. He's top 60 all-time in the following stats: -- 3 pointers made (55th) -- Defensive rebounds (40th) -- Blocks (37th) -- Turnover % (44th) -- Defensive Win Shares (30th) -- Win Shares (50th) OK. So I guess I did have the patience to get some evidence He's been a great teammate and has won everywhere he went. If he helps LeBron win his first title, I bet he gets into the HoF. Ed O.

Sheed's pretty over the hill these days. He can play good defense, hit some J's, and score in the post every so often (never seems to want to despite awesome skill) but I don't see it translating to making the Cavs a ton better. They really should move Big Z's 2010 expiring contract for an upgrade at C. Guys like Chandler, Kaman, etc/ can be had on the cheap. MAybe they could even land Shaq or Amare if Pho is desperate enough for expiring contracts.
Eh, if he could have led Portland to a title in 2000 as the focal point than yea, maybe. But everyone remembers him melting down as well as in 2001 too. He had HOF talent, but dude didn't push him himself. You can have all the stats you want, but when you think of Hall of Fame, Rasheed Wallace doesn't really come to mind. He simpy was not dominant enough.

Not even close. Hall of fame? He was definitely all-star quality during his Portland years, but never lived up to his potential. He had the talent to be a hall of fame caliber, but never lived up to it. Don't know what you're thinking, but being apart of championship teams doesn't necessarily make you a hall of famer. Will Robert Horry get in?
I didn't know teams could talk with free agents before July 1st. Am I wrong? If I'm right, then either Cleveland is going to get in big trouble or this story has no truth what-so-ever.
Sheed is definitely getting older and his production is going to continue to decline, but he's stayed at about the same numbers for the last three years. He's big and plays physical defense, and would be great considering he is an outside threat when LBJ drives inside (sort of a Super Donyell Mashall in his older years). He would be a good fit. I don't think he gets 10 million per, and I doubt Cleveland has that much to offer (they'd have to be under the cap, which I doubt with contracts like LBJ, Big Z, Ben Wallace, Wally, etc. on the books)...but the MLE? Certainly worth it, and I'd consider it a define possibility.
I can't see them trading Z to be honest. If you base the decision purely on basketball, obviously you choose to shop Z's contract. If you get sentimental, which the Cavs and the fans will, they probably won't shop it. They do, however, have Big Ben's as well. A side point, though, is that if they trade their expirings they won't have the cap space to sign LeBron plus another top free agent next offseason and as far as I know that is the plan at the moment. So unless they can use the expiring contracts of Ilgauskas and Wallace in particular to get a superstar player, I really can't see them trading them.
"Living up to his potential" is irrelevant. No one will (or should) look at a player and say, "Yes, he was a hall of fame player, but he could have been top 10 all-time", or "Yes, he's won a pair of championships but could have won twice as many". Failure to live up to artificial expectations is... well, an artificial criticism. As far as the Horry comparison... what stats is Horry top 60 career in? How many all-star games did Horry make? Comparing Horry to Rasheed is silly. Ed O.
I'd say, as long as Artis Gilmore isn't in the HOF, Rasheed stands absolutely zero chance at being in there, whether or not he "deserves" it or not*. *deserves got nothing to do with it.
