Boobie only missed 7 games this year. Big Ben missed significant time with 26 games, but would you rather have him or DJ MBenga on your team? Boobie isn't a duplication of either Mo or West. He's a spot up shooter and not much else, but he can make open shots better than anyone off the Lakers bench. Mo Willaims can shoot the long ball, but can also drive to the rim and has a solid mid-range game. Delonte West has a back to the basket game, shoots, and finishes well in traffic. Luke Walton having a "cerebral game" is a myth.
dude... three blocked shots, 8 boards, a couple of assists and 19 big ones. i venture to say that there wasnt one single cav reserve who managed to put up those numbers all post season. plus, his defensive assignments were super tough- dwight, rashard. and he may have been a starter but he's a reserve when bynum was healthy
Bynum played 16 minutes, Odom was getting starter's minutes. I venture to say he also got killed by Lewis? Left him open on the perimeter constantly, and got lit up for 34? Like I said flashy, but a role player.
Yeah I did. Odom was awesome tonight on offense, but he was option 3. He's actually managed to play 4 straight games very well, but he'll also give you some terrible outings like Game 4against Denver when he shot 1-8 and was outplayed badly by Kenyon Martin,
delonte was their second best post up player (lol at their ineptness offensively) luke walton is the progeny of bill walton -the greatest glorified, pot smoking big man that ever played the game, nuff said mo williams before joining the cavs shared pg duties with ramon sessions and tj ford. he was never as good as advertised by danny ferry boobie hasnt replicated the success of his rookie season- he's a rookie season aberration
Game 4? You mean the game where Odom tried playing without the back brace and still had massive swelling and Kmart popped him in the back? Yeah, I can excuse that bad game.
I would too, but the Cavs have better depth. The Cav's bench and PG are better, and Ariza was getting 20-25 minutes a game for most of the year. Vlad was still in our roster and started for us... We had two of among the worst starters in the league. Then we lost our best bench player with Bynum hurt.
I'm not sure where you're going with this response. You claimed Boobie was injured all year which he wasn't and then said he's duplication of West & Mo which he isn't. Luke Walton makes more mental mistakes than anyone on the bench. He's lost on defense half the time, can't make a freakin' inbounds pass, and for as smart as people claim he is he still hasn't figure out how to shoot a basketball after playing the sport since the age of 3. Who cares if Mo Williams split time with those other two players? He averaged 17 PPG his last two seasons in Milwaukee and averaged 17 PPG in his first season with Cleveland. He increased his 3pt% to 43.6% and made 91% of his FTs What was Ferry advertising that Mo didn't deliver on?
Lakers big men pwn Cavs big men Bynum Gasol Odom >>>>>> Big Z Varajao Wallace Ariza is an excellent defender against swingmen, and imo more valuable than Szerbiack. Williams/Delonte/Boobie have the edge over Brown/Farmar/Fisher But not a terribly large one.
I think the backcourt edge is pretty big, Fisher is probably in contention for the worst starting PG in the league. Vlad/Luke are right there for worst starting SF. Ariza and Bynum's significance is diminished because of their situation this year. The Cavs are far deeper imo.
what the hell is going on? why are lakers fans saying cavs are a better team? they are obviously not, and that sure as hell doesnt equate to lebron being a better player than kobe. if the argument is who is the best PLAYER in the nba than its kobe, and its a given the lakers are better than the cavs. the best player in the league isnt defined by mvp or 66 wins or whatever, it is defined by the players skill. Kobe has a multi-layered game, he has ability all over the floor, and whatever aspect of the game kobe is a part of at any given moment, its more than likely he is the most skilled in that aspect. Lebron is great at forcing his way through the key, he has a combination of speed, strength and size the league has not seen since shaq was good. but in terms of skill, and when a players skill on the basketball court is put to the test, lebron is still second best. Kobe has a way about his game that is predictable, but still almost impossible to stop. For lebron if his inside game is being defended well, than he HAS TO rely on his jump shot, his mid range and long range game. kobe is the best mid range shooter in the league, carmelo is also very good, lebron falls a little lower than these two. Lebron's skill as an inside player is great, but so is kobe's, lebron outside game is lacking, but kobe's is just as good as his inside game. kobe has yet to be stopped these playoffs, lebron has. Kobe has led this laker team from complete dissaray, into the greatest team in the nba. lebron has a long way to go to reach kobe's level of skill in all facets of the game.
Kobe Bryant is not a better player than Lebron James. Lebron was better in the regular season, and he was better in the playoffs. The Lakers are a better overall team than the Cavs, but Lebron's the better player. Better team does not equate better player.
remember that guy who had the power rankings on here...who was that? Cavs were always at the top in the 2nd half of the season even though they lost twice to the Lakers...lol...that guy was funny
Playoff Stats PPG: LJ - 35.3 > KB - 30.2 RPG: LJ - 9.1 > KB - 5.4 APG: LJ - 7.3 > KB - 5.1 SPG: KB - 1.74 > LJ - 1.64 BPG: LJ - 0..86 > KB - 0.84 FG%: LJ - 51.1 > KB - 46.6 3PT%: KB - 34.1 > LJ - 33.3 FT% : KB - 90.1 > LJ - 74.9 eFG%: LJ - 55.3 > KB - 49.9 TS%: LJ - 61.8 > KB - 57.3 PER: LJ - 37.3 > KB - 27.7 O-Rtg: LJ - 128 > KB - 120 D-Rtg: LJ - 100 > KB - 104 OWS/48: LJ - 0.30 > KB - 0.19 DWS/48: LJ - 0.09 > KB - 0.08 WS/48: LJ - 0.39 > KB - 0.27 Production: LJ - 39.1 > KB - 28.3 Opp. Production: LJ - 10.5 > KB - 10.8 Net Production: LJ - 28.6 > KB - 17.5 Roland Rating: LJ - +25.2 > KB - +16.6 When Kobe Bryant is only leading in steals, 3PT%, and FT%, you can't really make much of a case for him. Lebron is a better scorer in volume (PPG), a better scorer efficiency wise (TS%), a better rebounder (RPG), passer (APG), shotblocker (BPG), more productive overall (PER, production, Roland Rating), a better overall offensive player (O-Rtg, OWS/48), better overall defensive player (D-Rtg, DWS/48, Opponent's Production). Please prevent your case for why Kobe Bryant is a better player, when all the evidence points to Lebron being a better player. And don't use the argument "Because the Lakers are still playing and the Cavs are not". All that proves is that the Lakers are a better team than the Cavs, and not that Kobe is better than Lebron. Lakers > Cavs =/= Kobe > Lebron
Stats alone are not enough to convince me that Lebron is better than Kobe. If I had to choose who would take the final shot at the buzzer, I'd still choose Kobe Bryant. Kobe is the most fundamentally sound player in the game and I'd still give the mental aspects of the game to Bryant. Lebron's physical gifts definitely play a huge role in the stats you mention, but Kobe is still the more complete player. There is much more than STATS when it comes to the better player. Kobe > Lebron. Lebron is young and will inevitably dethrone Kobe in the future, but as of TODAY, I still feel Kobe is better than Lebron, and it has nothing to do with stats.
Lebron pounded the Pistons and Hawks, two non-playoff teams in the West. His first 8 games mean what? Battier and Artest? Stop hating like it is not even a debate. Uh Kobe had the better defensive PER/production/etc, deal with it, he's played just as good against GOOD teams all year. http://www.82games.com/0809/COM1S11.HTM Still using PER dude? When Bron faced who in the first couple of rounds? Kobe > Bron in the post-season. And stats go in our favor since Houston. LeBron is good, Kobe was underrated in the playoffs. http://www.clublakers.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=111478&start=0 With all the praise over the ECF, Kobe was even better in his conference Finals, he's a better facilitator he doesn't need to touch the ball on every possession. Watch the games, he allows teammates to create shots and he can play off the ball better. APG doesn't mean anything sometimes, depends on how long you hold it. Houston did not get torched by Bron either.
