Yes but some are happy he got assaulted because he screwed the NBA, that's the impression I got. I don't see the need to rejoice over this news.
Sometimes somebody deserves a beat down. If it was a perfect world for me then he just would have gotten really black and blue and had two weeks of aches and pains. Id rather he had not needed surgery for a broken leg or torn knee...but oh well, Ive had both Most people who enter prison deserved to have their ass kicked...let the guards rough them up one time when they first come to prison. Go ahead and try to rehab their dumbasses after that (no I dont think this has any chance of happening)
I hope this further discourages other refs from betting, but Stern works too hard to cover it up. David Stern is probably either getting a cut from the Mob, or he was threatened by the mob. But still, I don't think it's nice to cheer over violence. Now a ref that fucked the Blazers out of a championship....maybe I would like him get a black eye or two.
Frankly, I think people are unsympathetic because Donaghy got off very easily. He victimized every fan of the NBA, and he didn't expose the other refs involved. He should be humble and grateful for his absurdly short sentence...not whining over the fact that prison life in unpleasant!
So, why celebrate? You're old enough and grouchy enough to know that every fan is STILL being victimized.
I'm not "celebrating", just indifferent. IMHO, he is an odd choice for people to waste sympathy on. If it had been a random, unprovoked attack, I might feel differently....but this was supposedly a conflict with a fellow mob associate.
If there is a god, I doubt if he gives a shit about Tim Donaghy, or the NBA. I'm sure he's got bigger issues on his mind. BNM
