Larry Brown is an overrated coach, i'd put Popovich ahead of him.

Larry Brown isn't that great. Although he has won a college and pro championship. He still is overated in my book because he took a team, the Pistons who already had success with Rick Carlisle the previous two years to the title, and now after hes gone they are still improving. So I believe Larry Brown shouldn't be that high. But he is a good coach.

If its all-time, it has to be Red Auerbach. If its now, it has to be Phil Jackson.

I never thought of Auerbach as that great a coach. I heard once he he only had 7 offensive sets, and his team wasn't near as athletic as teams today. There's noway he could do that nowadays1. Greg Poppivich2. Phil Jackson3. Jerry Sloan4. Flip Saunders5. Mike D'Antoni6. Larry BrownHe leaves Detroit, they do better in the regular season. He goes to New York, and he plays the exact opposite way of their talent. Larry Brown is overrated as hell, and he isn't even on my top 10 coaches list ever

    1. Gregg Poppovich: Super defense. Made a nothing-franchise into a defensive nightmare.2. Phil Jackson: Sure, maybe he has more titles, but COACHING also counts. Still a VERY good coach. An instant Master of Zen.3. Flip Saunders: Probably will be Coach of the Year this season...4. Larry Brown: Made Detroit a defensive powerhouse in the first place.5. Donnie Nelson: He's actually a coach still in the league, but doesn't work as a coach. Anyway, made three crappy franchises into 50-win clubhouses.6. Jerry Sloan: Hey, his team had to slip after his 20 consecutive winning seasons!!7. Mike D'Antoni: Hey, he IS the Coach of the Year.8. Pat Riley: Could be higher, but not the best coach for Shaq.9. Rick Adelman: Trying to revive a dead franchise. Still an offensive genius!10. Avery Johnson: Every quality for being a coach and friend. Just too early in his coaching career to confirm anything.

    1. Phil Jackson - The best coach ever. 2. Greg Popovich - He's like a nun, you don't mess with a nun. 3. Jerry Sloan - He sits bad defenders, does unpopular things that turn out well. The rest can be interchangable.

    1. Coach Pop.....3 championships in 7 years........and a very good chance to win this year....2. Phil Jackson.....one of the greatest coaches of all time but he won all of those world championships with GREAT players.....show me that he can do well in the playoffs this year and maybe it will be different3. Avery Johnson......turned Dallas in to the 3rd best NBA team behind the pistons and spurs......coming from the spurs organization he knows that defense wins championships4. Mike D'Antoni......hes impressed me these last couple of years......Phoenix looks good5. George Karl.......I really dont have a good reason for him i just think hes a good coach....

^True, but your talking Jordan and Pippen, plus a very good supporting cast, then Kobe and Shaq and a very good supporting cast(ala, Big shot Bob, Dereck Fisher),VSPop with just TD and David Robinson, for just 1 year, the other 2 champs came with just TD, who is a great player, but noone puts him in the Jordan, Kobe, Shaq realm...not as far as I know anyways.I think Avery should be in the top 10, but as someone has said before, he needs to do this over a few years for it to be concrete. As of this year, only this year, Avery is in the Top 3 IMO, along with Jerry Sloan, and Pop.

He just sits there? Are you kidding me? Watch those Lakers with Kurt Rambis and get back to me you ignorant fool and watch Phil Jackson during timeouts with the Bulls in the finals...
