He just sits there? Are you kidding me? Watch those Lakers with Kurt Rambis and get back to me you ignorant fool and watch Phil Jackson during timeouts with the Bulls in the finals...</div>phil jackson just sits on his <Censored>. every coach gets up during timeouts you moron. watch the other good coaches that actually coach the entire game instead of waiting for timeouts. anyway that's not why i think he's overrated. he's overrated because everyone rides him like he's mj. mj, pippen, shaq and kobe are 4 of the best to ever play the game. combining them together it's almost impossible to lose.yea you are right. you can't win without great players but phil jackson had 2 at the same time TWICE. when you are that fortunate, you better win and that is why he is overrated.
Larry Brown is a little overrated, but not that much. We know that he works on Point Guards to fit his mold, but it can ONLY be his mold.Avery isn't as good as you guys are saying. He forces them to play defense, but he is young. He is strict and a friend, but I don't see him top ten. I will admit I forgot Rick Carlisle, I will put him ahead of McMillan. Adelman for Sacramento is very underrated. He was one of the top coaches with CWebb and Christie. He really helped the Kings become elite and turn into a contender, he just could never get a title, b/c of the two headed monster in Shaq and Kobe.Phil is still number one, and then Larry, and Pat Riley.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (nykfan4life @ Apr 4 2006, 02:43 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>he just sits there.</div>Thats because he trusts his players. When opposing teams are going on a run, most coaches will just get up, call a timeout, and show emotion just for image. When the cameras are on them, they want to make a good impression to the media. Jackson isnt those type of coaches.

Popovich is an amazing coach but to put him over Phil Jackson, thats ridiculous.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (BCB @ Apr 4 2006, 11:59 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>Your forgetting the Spurs awesome role players.</div>Yeah but your talking just TD, and guys like Tony P and Manu, and Robert Horry, the last few years, compared to 2 of the best players in the league when he coached those guys.I mean Kobe and Shaq could've rotated MVP for about 4-5 years, and Pippen might have one some MVP's if not for Jordan...who else on the Spurs is going to do that. What I was saying is that both teams had 2 great players, and tons of support like Robert Horry and Dereck Fisher, and Steve Kerr for Chicago, compared to just TD and some pretty good players.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (nykfan4life @ Apr 5 2006, 01:17 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>when you have mj and pippen or shaq and kobe it is.</div>the thing on phil jackson is that he has had some of the most talented players in the league, but he has also taken players not so good and made them into great role players. look at dennis rodman. his later years with the pistons and his years with the spurs were just awful because of all his offcourt issues. after he went to chicago phil was able to contain him and let him use his talent. and look what happened after phil left and rodman went to the lakers and mavs. he wasnt able to be contained. he also has one of the greatest offenses ever seen. the triangle is just wonderful. and you cont just say that scottie pippen, michael jordan, kobe bryant, and shaq would of won all their championships without his coaching. shag and kobe had been together for like 3 or 4 years before phil was brought in and they won. del harris and kurt rambis couldnt get them over the hump to the championship, but phil did. i still think he is #2 behind coach pop right now, but he still deserves the number 2 spot on the list.
Believe me, the lakers wouldn've won the championships without Phil. The triangle system pwned and when the players knew it correctly, they were unstopable.
Manu and Tony aren't just "pretty good role players." Both were All Stars at one point. I just want to point that out, they are better than Fish and Horry back then.
