Gotta disagree with your assesment of the 06 draft: 1 Andrea Bargnani F Italy Toronto Raptors Benetton Treviso (Italy) 1985 2 LaMarcus Aldridge F United States Chicago Bulls (from New York, traded to Portland)[o][a] Texas So. 3 Adam Morrison F United States Charlotte Bobcats Gonzaga Jr. 4 Tyrus Thomas F United States Portland Trail Blazers (traded to Chicago)[a] LSU Fr. 5 Shelden Williams F United States Atlanta Hawks Duke Sr. 6 Brandon Roy G United States Minnesota Timberwolves (traded to Portland) Washington Sr. 7 Randy Foye G United States Boston Celtics (traded to Minnesota via Portland) Villanova Sr. 8 Rudy Gay F United States Houston Rockets (traded to Memphis)[c] Connecticut So. 9 Patrick O'Bryant C United States Golden State Warriors Bradley So. 10 Mouhamed Sene F Senegal Seattle SuperSonics Verviers-Pepinster (Belgium) 1986 11 J. J. Redick G United States Orlando Magic Duke Sr. 12 Hilton Armstrong C United States New Orleans/Oklahoma City Hornets Connecticut Sr. 13 Thabo Sefolosha G Switzerland Philadelphia 76ers (traded to Chicago)[d] Angelico Biella (Italy) 1984 14 Ronnie Brewer G United States Utah Jazz Arkansas Jr. Aside from LA, Roy, Foye, and Gay, everyone in that lotto is either a bit player, scrub or out of the league totally. Not saying that 09 is a great draft by any means. But 06 wasn't that great either...although there were some good/decent players taken later on: Rajon Rondo for instance.
But that was my whole point. Minny desperately needs a point guard and if they could also snag Thabeet in the process they'd have a very balanced roster with an already established, budding superstar power forward in Jefferson. Rubio Foye Miller? Jefferson Thabeet That's a pretty decent starting five in a few more years, even though I tend to think Thabeet probably won't be anything more than Theo Ratliff 2.0 or Maybe Samuel Dalambert as a best case scenario -- but in any case, good enough to pair up with Al Jefferson.
