Kobe should take the fucking paycut, he is rich as fuck, why does he need extra 3-4 millions, seriously.
Why should Kobe take a paycut? He's the best player in the league he should be compensated as such. We don't have a cheap owner and Buss doesn't mind paying the luxury tax for a championship team. I'd be interested to see how Kobe's contract is structured. He might take a V shaped deal to help the team's cap situation out and give them some flexibility to bring everyone back.
Yeah, no reason for Kobe to take a cut. He's earned every fucking penny we pay him...and more. Buss will pay for a championship, he doesn't give a fuck about luxury tax. He made about $50 million I believe on the home playoff games. He makes bank, the luxury tax isn't much to him. Both Odom and Ariza will be back, and Kobe will get his money.
Would some care to explain to me our salary cap position right now? How's the hard cap going to be affected? I'd prefer if Kobe took a paycut but it wouldn't bother me much if it meant that Odom and Ariza were resigned.
http://sportstwo.com/NBASalaries.php#jump_LAL Shows our cap situation. We won't know what the actual cap number is going to be until later this summer. They're speculating it's actually going to be less than this past season.
Why should Kobe take a paycut? Without him, this team is nothing. He's the best player in the NBA and should be compensated as such. Plus, he'll be worth every penny. With how good of condition he keeps himself in, he'll still be putting up 25/5/5 by the end of his contract. As far as bringing back LO and Ariza, I'm sure they can structure Kobe's contract to allow maximum flexibility with those two. And, as mentioned previously, Buss will pay for a contender. He was making all sorts of bank because of this deep playoff run and he's all sorts of rich. As long as we're winning, he'll pay the LT.
