I guarantee we'll be in the finals if all three KG, Pierce and Allen remain healthy. ( <--- bookmark material)

You guys up for the challenge next year? It's going to be a fun season. :)

    I wouldn't argue with that.

I agree Celtics will be back if their Big 3 are healthy. Orlando will need Dwight Howard to make major strides on the offensive end if they expect to get by Boston. If Boston is able to single coverage him then Orlando will lose. Cleveland will need to go all out this year to keep LeBron in a Cavs uniform they'll definitely make a major move this summer.

Imagine how much more entertaining the finals would have been if it were Boston/LA again, regardless of who would have won.

Yeah even though the Lakers won it would have been more gratifying to play Boston again.

Garrett, KG, whatever, we got Gasol.

Pierce and Allen don't really bother me to be honest. All "big" three of them as a matter of fact.

Seeing as how much the Lakers have improved overall.

Yeah Boston clearly showed us this year, even though they were in a slump before playing us they peaked at the right time.

Last year? ... Last year? Last year is done, gone, over with. The past doesn't mean two shits, it's about what the future holds for the Lakers, and that's a much better Gasol.

    Do not try...lol

Kevin Garnett is a better player than Pau Gasol in every aspect of the game, other than possibly his post arsenal. Not to mention KG/Perk will be much tougher down low the the Lakers in the finals than Dwight/nobody.

It would be a good rematch, no doubt, but do not try to tell me that KG means nothing because of Pau, it's nuts.

You said "KG, whatever, we got Gasol." but you had Gasol last year so I was confused. That's all.

Gasol is a lot stronger from the offseason workouts he went through after losing to Boston. He's also tougher mentally. I know the Celtics were without KG during the post season, but their intimidation factor has disappeared. Even in the regular season Boston wasn't intimidating teams the way they did a season ago. Hopefully it can be settled on the court in the Finals again in 2010.

I'd love to see a rematch next year, especially if both of our squads are actually at full strength. It would surely be entertaining. Though KG really shouldn't be spouting off stuff like this already.

Not sure where you're getting that? I mean, if you think the result of the 2 regular season matchups mean that the Lakers are no longer intimidated by the Celtics, then I'm not sure what to say to you. You really have no idea what you're going to get from a 7 game series until the games are played. It might make you feel good to say Gasol is tougher mentally, but in reality, you can't know for sure until he matches up against KG in another series. I don't think Gasol showed any signs of weakness last year when they were rolling through the West. It wasn't until the Finals that he appeared weak.

Players weren't backing down from KG when he got in their face this year. Last season he was getting into opponent's heads with his antics, but this year it wasn't effective.

Gasol was more assertive this year demanding the ball and actually doing something with it. He made some big plays in crunchtime on both ends of the court all season long. Last year he deferred more. If you watch his play from last season to this year he's not allowing players to push him around and take cheap shots on him without Gasol retaliating. Last year he just took it and gave up ground.

If the KG bit is true, I didn't notice it. The only guy that comes to mind is Calderon, but he was merely pouting about KG picking on him. The Lakers were definitely amped up for the two games they played Boston this year, and they looked strong. I don't know which teams, aside from LA, proved to be a worthier opponent from one year to the next. The Celtics were on the same regular season pace (before the KG injury) as they were the previous year, doing that without Posey. I'm interested to hear what it is that makes you believe guys were all of a sudden unaffected by KG and what examples you might have of it.

And on Gasol, disregarding the Finals, what was wrong with his play in the playoffs last year? Take a look at the stats. He took 12.4 FG/g in the playoffs last year. Compare that to 12.0 this year. You can say he was more assertive and demanding, but the numbers don't back you up. He may have gotten "tougher" but who is he being tough against? Dwight Howard can only do so much by himself down low. Time will tell how tough he has gotten if he ever matches up against KG and Perk again in the Finals.
