Webster needs to find some excuse to sit out the season. Another year on the sideline, and people will be declaring him an all-star. I hope we find an upgrade for Outlaw, but he is at least useful some of the time. If anybody "must" go, then Webster needs to pack.
Websters a more consistent defender and three point shooter. Sure he's not as good at creating his own shot but he doesn't force it up when he has nothing. Plus he had an excuse for sitting out the playoffs.

Really? How many votes from NBA coaches has Webster received for the All-Defensive team in his career? I know Outlaw received one vote this year while playing for a 54 win team.
I had a burning question one time, but that was years ago, and a simple shot took care of it. And PapaG, please remember that the great Andrea Bargnani recieved a rookie of the year vote also. It doesn't mean he deserved it. Travis is a below average defender who males up for blown coverage with his athlticism. He blocks some shots from behind and some coah back east remembered a key one in some game.
I think this hinges on how Webster recovers from the permanent screws in his foot. I have my doubts. If we trade Travis and Webster ends up with a more or less career ending injury, Batum is 2-3 years away from playing major productive minutes and we'd be in the lerch. I'm wondering if KP will hold off making any SF trades until mid season and we can see how Webster does.
I guess no one seems to remember that Webster's career best PER is 11.97, compared to Outlaw's career best PER of 16.48. Outlaw had a PER last year of 15.15. Keep in mind that the league average is 15.00. In fact Outlaw's worst PER season is higher than Webster's best PER season. Batum, by the way had a PER last year of 12.92. Again, higher than any year of Webster's. Those three are all good players to use in a comparison because they all play consistant minutes. Everyone also talks about Webster being this great shooter, but Webster's best 3pt % is .388. Outlaw by comparison went .396 two years ago, and .377 last year. Batum was .369. Some people, including myself, want to get rid of Travis because frankly he isn't that good, but his PER rating is a lot higher than the guy some of you think is the missing piece? Why is Webster this great player that is going to put up over the top again?
Also remember that the Bargnani vote came from the media. The All-Defensive vote came from a head coach in the NBA.
Webster is just now being allowed to walk and shoot. That is a really, really bad sign. Unfortunately, it makes him impossible to trade. Outlaw will most likely return for another year of futility as a 3/4 tweener.
I don't think the "trout must go" crew thinks webster is the guy. we think he is the guy to be batum's backup!
