Please don't rewrite history. Outlaw was inconsistent but to say his entire year was "futile" is just bs.
IF TO is kept and nothing else happens roster wise, which I doubt.. Put TO as backup to LMA and leave Webster/Batum at the 3 Travis creates more mismatches at the 4 than at the 3
I pretty much dismiss the opinions of those who seem to think losing Travis would be an addition by subtraction situation. I'd guess a deal with Travis would fetch a player of value because dude is a pretty decent NBA player. Portraying him as some sort of team pariah is just silly. He's not the greatest talent in the league but he is a healthy productive cheap reserve and their best option backing up both forward spots. He just seems to be the latest target of some who like to bitch. If no trades involving forwards are made, I'll stick with my guess that Martell will end up the odd man out. His health may or may not be a concern, but his performances have been largely disappointing. Then again, maybe this will be his breakout year STOMP
Do you honestly believe that Outlaw as a 3/4 tweener is a better option then having players who can actually play those positions? If so, then his season wasn't futile at all. For me, I would rather have an actual 3 AND an actual 4 then the Outlaw hodge-podge of skills. I believe having Outlaw play a lot of minutes at 4 was futile, since he can't actually guard 4's and doesn't consistently rebound. Between that and his complete inability to be a starter, his need to jack up crap to be effective and his disappearing act in the playoffs lead me to believe that another year with him is an exercise in futility.
I would also appreciate it if you did not put words in my mouth. I did not say Outlaw is a better option than having "a player who can actually play these positions". You said bringing back Outlaw is another year of futility. I said he is inconsistent but if he had some good/very good games, and he did, than "futile" is not an accurate word. Is it possible, just possible, to have a discussion without attacks? This is not the stupid so called debates on TV where two people scream talking points at one anothere. I personally think KP will move Travis if he gets a good offer. He won't move him for the sake of moving him, as he did with Zach Randolph. I don't think Travis fits what the Blazers need. I also don't think his entire year was futile. It is not necessary to hate someone to realize he's not the best fit. If Travis goes, I wish him well (except when he plays Portland) and hope he clotheslines Kobe Bryant.
