Well, the Blazers might be willing to dump him for capspace that would just give the a CHANCE at Hedo. What does that tell you? Edit: looking a the Celts' roster, there is no one we can simply DUMP Outlaw for. Cleveland has Pavlovic, on the other hand, who has a Team option for next year around $4 mil.
Depends on what you expect from him. On the plus side, he can get his own shot against almost anybody. When it is falling, he is almost unstoppable. Depending on the opponent, he can play either forward slot. On the downside, he does get cold streaks - and when he does, he just doesn't do much else to help you win. If all you need is an off-the-bench scoring threat, he is above average. If you need someone who is consistent and well rounded - look elsewhere. (of course, if he was more consistent and versatile, he wouldn't be making only $4 million!)
exactly... typical rumorama for this time of year. If the writer doesn't ignore this fact, then there is no reason for it being written. STOMP
So what would that net us? A future 1st round draft pick? If for example, the Celtics traded Leon Powe to Memphis, and we traded Outlaw to the Celtics, could the Griz then send us a future 1st and cash to balance it out?
No, I don't want to trade Outlaw for Pierce, Outlaw is going to be the next McGrady. Besides, Pierce doesn't fit in with our window of contention, I don't think he'd fit in well with our future, Telfair. oh wait, what year is it?
Besides, what has Pierce ever won? He's a classic stat hound on a bad team. We have one of those, Zach Randolph. Just like KG and Ray Allen. No thanks. Let's get some winners.
Forget it. I think the Celtics window has closed, and Outlaw wouldn't change that. Pierce and Allan and Garnett are past their prime, and the Lakers, Cavs, Magic and Blazers will all be better than them next season. That said, I'd love to get rid of Outlaw for Turkoglu.
Dumping tends to mean, at least as I think most people use the term, NOT getting value... either giving the player away or having to send value with the player to get rid of him. The article quoted claims that Portland is looking to dump Outlaw, which doesn't make any sense if the word was used in the conventional "dumping" sense. Ed O.
I would take Outlaw as a 15mpg backup for Pierce. Wouldn't be willing to give up much for him, though.
