Dana White is bragging about signing a major fighter for the UFC's middleweight division, but he's delaying the announcement to make the interwebz go crazy. White claims the signing will be "mind-blowing", but as usual, he might just be blowing smoke up our asses. Names being mentioned include Cung Le (very unlikely--he's busy filming movies for now), Vitor Belfort (still may be under contract with Affliction), Jason Miller (doesn't seem like it'd be him, he is content fighting elsewhere), Robbie Lawler (already booked with Strikeforce), Gegard Mousasi (wants to fight at LHW and HW, so probably not him), Melvin Manhoef (not really a big name), and Ricardo Arona (who he hasn't shown interest in before), among others. On the heels of signing Denis Kang and Sexyama, it seems White and Joe Silva are really working hard to bolster the talent in that (already stacked) division.
ugh, I don't see any mindblowing talent available at MW that's outside the UFC. some solid guys like Lawler, Manhoef and Arona some decent guys in Miller and Belfort some too old to make a difference guys in Cung Le and Matt Lindland (yeah.. RIGHT) and one potential superstar who's moving up in weight in Mousasi who is extremely unlikely. the one name that comes to mind who most MMA fans would flip out over is Jacare.. but I think he's happy in Japan. I am so ready to be underwhemled.
Just said on that little news thing during the TUF 9 Finale with Sadollah that he's working on getting Belfort in to fight Silva.
yeah, its probably gonna be Belfort. Like yankshater said, Dana was talking about setting up a Belfort vs Silva fight.
Kind of surprising to announce Belfort when the kid already has a fight booked with Affliction. He loses to Santiago and the UFC still brings him in? I'm unsure.
