Outside of the superstars coming into Portland in a hypothetical trade (yes, this includes CP3 as well), which Trail Blazers would you hold onto and not even consider trading. Don't even ask: Brandon Roy- You don't trade top 5 players in the game LaMarcus Aldridge- I feel he will be the premiere PF in 3 years Greg Oden- Just refuse to give up on the big fella Jerryd Bayless- His work ethic has sold me on him being great in this league Nicolas Batum- Too much talent at a young age + physical attributes = something nasty for the rest of the L Joel Przybilla- Simple. He means more to me (PDX), than you (League) I do not want to see those 6 moved at ALL. No moving up in the drafts, no nothing. Torn on: Travis Outlaw- He is my unquestioned fv. player, but if we sign Hedo, Batum becomes the backup and I'm not sure Nate wants him at the 4 100% of the time or if there will be enough minutes for him. He is much better than Martell, but I feel he could be the odd man out. Already preparing myself for an Outlaw trade Available: Martell Webster- Will he ever be the player we thought he'd be back in 2005? I'm not willing to hold out hope and would ship him to improve our team now. Rudy Fernandez- Dude is not going to be Roy's backup for life, trade him while his value is high! Steve Blake- Solid, wouldn't mind him returning, but would seek a vet upgrade 1st. Our best trade bait to make us contenders now. Please take him off my hands: Sergio Rodriguez- Man, trading him for an exception or a future 2nd would make my heart smile
Not going anywhere: 1. Roy- don't think he's top 5 in the league but he's pretty close and isn't going anywhere anytime soon. 2. Aldridge- i still think he could end up being a better all round player than roy. 3. Oden- you don't give up on the big man 4. Batum- the sky is the limit on this kid 5. Rudy- not only does he bring a load of fans from overseas but he was arguably the best player on the silver medal winning team last year. next year i think we will see a different guy. Could give up but not cheaply 1. Pryz- a good b/u true center is extremely rare and we have one 2. Webster- i still think with his atleticism he can be a really good player. it will be very interesting to see how his foot heals. Available for a decent price 1. Bayless- still not sold on the guy. i have to see him do it on the floor to start drinking the kool-aid. 2. Sergio- he's in my top 3 favs right now but he won't work out in this system. 3. Outlaw- too much of an enigma (speaking of that where the hell has mixum gone? is disapearing his way of not saying negitive things about the blazers?) 4. Blake- he'll always be an ok player and i wouldn't mind having him as a b/u but if someone else wants him than fine.
Feel pretty much the same as you MAS, but I really think having a sharp shooter on the second unit is invaluable, and I think Rudy (if his ego will allow it long term) can play that role well for us for years.
Not available unless blown away Brandon Roy Greg Oden LaMarcus Aldridge Available, but expensive Nicolas Batum Jerryd Bayless Rudy Fernandez Joel Przybilla Quite available Travis Outlaw Martell Webster Steve Blake Sergio Rodriguez Rights to Joel Freeland/Petteri Koponen
I just think that good shooters are pretty easy to find these days..hell Ariza turned into a pretty damn good shooter. I could see Ellington or Danny Green filling Martell's or Rudy's role, if not them, then guys like Kapono are pretty easy to acquire (Reggie Evans, really?!)
Rudy brings a lot more than just being a shooter. When we are playing in big games soon, we are gonna love Rudy even more.. dude is a big time gamer. 3 guard rotation will be nice soon with Bayless, Roy, and Rudy... maybe not next year, but when we are big time contending in 2010-11
good grief with the hyperbole... at best he's the 3rd best SG in the game. 2nd team All NBA doesn't make you top 5 overall talent. If you're going to make some ridiculous what if scenario, how about you keep some basis of reality? it's all shades of gray. As a GM you make moves that (considering a multitude of factors) would improve the team's chances of winning a championship. Taken to extremes, every player is tradeable. Remember when you wouldn't trade Zbo for KG? STOMP
Unless this is for 1 of maybe 4 players in the league, forget about it. Aldridge - I think he is the most important player on the roster. Roy - Until his legs give out, he is the best player on the team. Oden - His PER alone says he is a monster waiting to open up a can of whoop ass on people. It better be for the right piece. Fernandez - I think Rudy is a good player, but trading him makes a lot of sense because he will more than likely get tired of backing up Roy. Batum - IMO he is the 3rd best player on the team. Bayless - Had he played for a coach that allowed him to be him, he would have been on one of the all rookie teams. Joel - I like Joel, but at some point soon his value will not be as strong because of Oden. Just go away Blake - I like him as a back up, but guys like him are easy to find Outlaw - He might be the most over rated guy on the team. Sergio - Nice young player, but his coach will never let him succeed. Martell - If it's not Travis, then Martell is the most over rated guy on the team. Koponen/Freeland - Not dominating a lesser league. No use for them.
Only if we can get LeBron - - Roy Only if we can get LeBron, CP3 or D-12 - Aldridge - Oden Not likely but we are willing to listen about a blockbuster - Batum We really really like them, has to be a big deal - Rudy - Bayless - Joel We will trade them for the right fit - Blake - Travis - Webster Sure, they are available - Anyone else
LeBron, Kobe,Wade, then I put Roy in the mix with Dwight and CP3. Sure, those 2 are better statistically, but Dwight doesn't have any go to moves and can't be counted on in the clutch and as good as Paul is, I would just rather have Roy. He makes more game winners, he is big enough to play the 1 and 2, and he has the team riding on his shoulders and they listen, and after seeing how the Hornets gave up last year, I question a little bit of Paul's leadership. Also, many believe Roy is top 10, so saying top 5 is hyperbole? Get a clue man And it was Zbo for Duncan, get your facts straight!
Roy is the only player that is untouchable. It's not just his ability, which is stellar. It is also that the team has based nearly their entire fan reclamation project around Roy's personality. Oden I would part with for some absurd deal (LeBron, Wade, Howard or the like). LA is pretty much the same. Other then that, for the right piece everyone else would be in play.
