Oh but comon Darizzle! According to Boston fans, there is no way that Rondo was offered in a deal. You know over the history of the league, Kareem Abduul Jabaar could be traded, Oscar Robinson could be traded. Shaq was traded. But Rondo, he is beyond all of them. They could never be talking about trading him.

Yea you know whats funny is, basically Ainge tried to fleece the Pistons of all their good players for a washed up SG and a problem PG. Of course, with some of the mistakes Dumars has made the last few years, why not give it a shot. I firmly believe when you see a GM making mistakes, you should make as many deals with them as possible before they are fired.
Hmm... I don't think that would have been a bad deal for Detroit, personally. I think that Rondo is the best player of the five, and Detroit gets out from a lot of long-term Hamilton contract. It would make Boston better in the short run, I think, but given that Detroit's not going to be that good without making a big deal, I don't know that they'd do better than this. Ed O.
Assuming Detroit would still have cap room since the salaries would have to match. Rondo and a FA to build around would be good. Or just call it a rebuilding season and have Rondo tear it up all year, then have FA money for next year wouldnt be too bad.
Agreed. They get the best player in the deal. I'd like to build around Rondo if I'm starting over and have a ton of cap space.
Yeah, I don't think that's a crazy trade at all from Detroit's side. Historically, trades involving quality for quantity end up favouring the team getting the quality. I consider Rondo a much better player than any of the three coming from Detroit. In any case, if that was rejected n Detroit's end, that's not a deal Portland would have to match. I wonder if they can put together a package for Rondo not involving the big three.
I would tend to agree normally, but why is Boston so eager to be rid of him? It raises a serious flag to me that they seem to be trying to trade him only 2 years after his breakout season that helped lead the team to a title.
Ainge is trying to improve the team but Rondo is probably the only player we have that other teams would give up something of value for. It's really that simple.
I agree with you there, I think they are just trying to get rid of Ray Allens contract. That dude showed last year he is just getting too long in the tooth to be useful anymore.
I don't think Rip is much better than Allen, Prince and Stuckey for Rondo doesn't seem like such great value for Boston either. I am surprised Detroit turned it down, it totally made sense if they wanted to rebuild.
I disagree. Rondo is great, and I love him, but I would do it. Stuckey is good enough to get by at point, and Rip is much more consistent than Allen, a little younger, too. Prince is the key, though. We have very little depth and having a guy like him coming off the bench would be huge. Pierce played way too many minutes last year because there wasn't anybody on the roster that could even begin to fill his slot.
Give him to us, it is clear we appreciate him more than you. ;] How would you distribute the minutes for Prince? Just to clear that up. I know you like Tony Allen so he should get time at the 2. Prince is great depth, but he's so overpaid. Rondo will get a little better and I think will have a greater impact than possibly Stuckey and Prince combined. Allen might have struggled but Rip's jumpshot was also off this year. Allen was not perfect in the post-season but still better. Rip is also signed 3 more seasons, whereas I think you'd have cap space anyway if Ray left? :]
I would have pulled the trigger. That trade clears Hamilton and Prince off the books while giving them one of the top four point guards in the game. Makes sense to me for both teams.
