Plus we go from having a player with almost no basketball IQ to a player with a very high basketball IQ. I also thought Jamison put in a very good effort on a very bad team last year. Him and Butler tried to keep that team afloat but it was just too much of a load with all the injuries they have had.

Sorry, I didn't mean for you to take it personal.

When I read the title, it made me believe that we made an offer, when it fact, it appears that someone at ESPN is just speculating on who we could offer. One gets me real excited, the other not so much.

Thomas and the #5 for Blake and Outlaw?

Blake and Outlaw represent $8.3 mil in waivable money before July 1
    Thomas makes $6.9 mil now

Washington sheds money fast if they want too.

We are nto moving both our experienced PG's and leave us with none. We keep JB at least
Blake played for them in the past remember

If they moved Jamison and the #5 for Blake, Outlaw, and Bayless, they'd be down to $66M in salary if they cut Blake and Outlaw.

No luxury tax for them. They'd save as much as $26M dollars in tax and salary (depending on the luxury tax line). That's huge. It's a tough sell to your fan base though. I'd say they'd keep Outlaw and only cut Blake in that scenario. That would put them at $70M. Maximum amount in lux. tax is about $5M then.

Why not start Jamison instead of having him come off the bench? Jamison is a far better then Outlaw and really should be used differently.

Heck, Portland wanted to use Outlaw differently last year, but couldn't because Travis is too limited.

I don't think starting Jamison at SF for us next year would be a good recipe to success.

No biggee. I'm a little amped today. I don't read the blurb the same way as you though. I do see it as Ford has some inside info that we have indeed offered a combo of those players for the combo of the #5 and another player.

I agree with you overall, but I could see how Jamison would fit well in Portland. He adds to our rebounding advantage, can space the floor as well as Batum, and since we don't really run, his lack of court speed doesn't hurt us too much.

Well I hope you're right. I would LOVE to get Butler as much as you would!

    Hello darkness, my old friend
Butler seems like a pipe dream, but getting the #5 and Jamison for essentially Outlaw, Blake and salary relief would be a great move, IMO. Jamison would be a great "super-sub" for Portland...a deluxe version of Outlaw.

I like the possibilties of what Pritchard could do with the #5 in terms of acquiring Rubio.

True. I was still skeptical that Jamison could adequately man the 3, so I went back to his year in Dallas, where he primarily played that position, and he did just fine. Hell, better than fine. He did outstanding.

So, we could start Jamison and Batum could back him up. Wow.

Can anyone come up with a reason why we wouldn't want Jamison on this team?

He's a great rebounder. He doesn't need the ball to be effective. He can hit it from outside.

Fuck, it feels wrong, but him and the #5 could really be a huge advancement for us.

I have a feeling that Washington would require Bayless in your scenario though.

Well no shit, but that's the last time he played significant minutes there. It's all we have to go off of.

Jamison has been a very consistent player for many years now, I don't see where you are going with this. It's not like he had a bad year last year. His team did, but he didn't. He played well. I can't say the same for Peja.

It's worth noting that in the 15 to 20% of time he now spends at SF he also produces at those same high levels.

I don't really think you really have to worry about that because if you go watch some film of him he really hasn't changed his game. IMO he has just became more consistent as the years have gone by. Even his game at PF was predicated on face up and outside shooting. My only concern with Jameson would be defense. The thing is, compared to Outlaw there is nothing to loose there.

I'm not one of the guys who thinks Outlaw is garbage, but I would say Jamison is an upgrade from a consistency and basketball IQ perspective. I watch at least 15-20 Wizards games every year, and I have no doubt he can play SF.
