I'm not going to get into an internet battle of semantics, but I'm not the one taking things out of context. I can only judge what he said, not something he meant to or might have meant to say that you are saying for him. I only commented on his strange NBA salary logic. Simple as in a tiny box.
I didn't say I didn't like Hinrich. My point was I don't see him at the defensive stopper that many see him as, and the Blake performed better in the playoffs without even considering his shoulder. Your screen name alone tells me your bias against print journalists. Are you a Steve Patterson fan? Are you Steve Patterson?
So unless you agree with quick/baldo, you are jealous of them? Uh, ok. I don't agree with you. Does that make me jealous of you?
It means Quick's opinion is worth more than yours, and I'm guessing he has more contact with the team than you do and subsequently a more accurate report on the matters of the team. Sorry to burst your bubble, "Masbee". Or did that criticism hurt you?
He's in the public eye and this comes with the gig. If I, and others, view statements like "I won't be surprised if (fill in the gap) happens" is a cop-out for "I don't know shit but I'll pretend I do", then we have the right to express it. My comments were just in fun anyways, but I don't need PapaG to suddenly act holier-than-thou when all he's done all day is hate on Kirk H... anonymously. I hate Steve Patterson. I am not Steve Patterson. I hate John Canzano. I actually don't mind Jason Quick.
I don't care if you criticize him or not. I do think it's silly though to get worked up over a quote that may sound weird/be a little off, but it still has the right idea - Hinrich makes much more than Blake and is only a slight upgrade. Main point, he's not worth it.
You didn't post in a thread dedicated to "PapaG". Not an applicable comparison at all. I have to assume your point was to criticize the subject of the thread that was posted.
I didn't "hate" on Kirk H. I said I thought that Blake had a better playoff considering their role, and I said that Hinrich couldn't/didn't defend Rondo. How is that "hate"?
WTF? So thats the jealousy test? I have to start a thread about you on the internet? This is good stuff.
You can thank Kevin Pritchard and McMillan for that. They're not going to tip their hand. Quick, with limited information, is making a guess just like everyone else on this forum is.
I'm just impressed that you're (somewhat) spelling correctly now. I have no problem with what Quick said on the radio. It's his opinion.
For sake of argument, I might believe someone was jealous of Quick, since he gets to travel with the team and mingle with the players. Canzano? I actually find the suggestion insulting. The guy is a gossip columnist...he just happens to write (sometimes) about the Blazers. He would be just as at home writing about Paris Hilton's latest STD. Personally, I could be no more jealous of him, then of a pimp or a 2-bit crack dealer.
Very wrong. Quick may have better access to source information. This is true. It does nothing to say what his capacity to reason is. Assuming you TRUST Quick, then it means Quick's REPORTING OF THE FACTS is worth more than mine. That is all you can say. Why do you put "Masbee" in quotes? You have some obsession with how message boards work? Would your opinion change if Quick turned out to be an alias and that picture in the paper was of a dentist in Ohio? What difference does it really make that Quick is "known"? What does "known" mean in this context? Do you really "know" Jason Quick any better than you "know" some of the posters on this board? Are you his mother?
So was I "hating" on Hinrich? I find your anonymous criticisms in this thread bizarre, as well as you saying that I only agreed with Quick because he agrees with my opinion on Hinrich.
The logic behind Quick's valuation of Hinrich is off... but I dunno what else he's supposed to say. He's asked for his opinions and he's giving them. He might be an asshat, but is this news? If he had a scoop, that'd be something, but scoops related to the Blazers are pretty few and far between for anyone. Chad Ford nailed the Koponen drafting, sort of... that's about the only one I can remember. Ed O.
A sore spot for you, isn't it. Yes, Quick's opinion is more legitimate than yours. He is around the team, he talks to the management, he puts his name behind his words, "Masbee".
