That's actually a rather good way of putting it. " I dream about landing player X, but I would settle for Hinrich." All this talk about Hinrich also reminds me of the old rule: there are no ugly girls at closing time!
I'd be happy, so long as it didn't cost any of the big three or the promising three (Batum, Bayless, Fernandez). Oh, and not Przybilla either. Since the talk has been about it mostly being about cap relief and maybe a very minor player, I'm proceeding on that assumption. So yes, happy. I think the team would be significantly stronger.
The key point, at least to me, is that getting Hinrich alone isn't enough. I'm not against getting Hinrich for the right price....but we need to do more than that!
I went over to a Bulls fan board, and several bemoaned the potential loss of defense. As for what they expect coming back several thought: Blake, Travis & our #24 (now #22) others wanted Pryzbilla and the pick. others said unless they get Rudy, they wouldn't be happy. Just to let the Blazer fans know. It is funny to see the gap between what the Blazer fans think and the Bulls fans think about what kind of trade seems right to them. Clearly there is a large gap in perception.
Not really..... I think he may be a slight upgrade, but I am unconvinced that he is a significant upgrade or one of those "veteran pieces" to push POR over the top....
Absolutely. He's a much better defender than Blake, can shoot, and is a better distributor. A good upgrade, now if we can somehow land Hedo, then we'd be set. Here is the likely final Kirk trade to Portland Kirk / #26 for Blake / Outlaw / #22.
He can also run the fast break. Not that the Blazers do it that much, but that certainly couldn't hurt.
I am absolutely praying this happens. People here have no idea how much better we will be on defense. Our toughness will also be a lot better as well. AND he can run a fast break
I'd be fairly happy with him as our PG upgrade. Sessions and Conley are the sexier picks, but if Hinrich is available for the least, take him. I'd still want a new backup PF banger, I'd be a bit disappointed if our only move this summer was for Hinrich. Another SF would be nice, if Outlaw goes and Webster doesn't fully heal we'd only have Batum at SF.
Hinrich was born 1/2/81, that'd make him 29 in the middle of next season. He's the vet you guys seem to want and he's still got some gas in the tank. Last season was the first he wasn't a starter, and maybe he'd have started if he didn't hurt his thumb.
I put this in another thread, but I've read on another board that the Lakers are trading for Hinrich. Just sayin...
