Does KP have the hots for Jonny Flynn, the lightning quick point guard from Syracuse? Take a look at the following, and ask yourself if Flynn fits in with the Blazer's "character" requirements: http://myespn.go.com/blogs/truehoop/0-41-137/Jonny-Flynn--Circa-2006.html
I love me some Flynn! High character, tough, and can straight play ball with the best of them. Never give up attitude. He'd fit in perfectly.
Draft Express has his best case scenario as Earl Watson..not saying I believe that, but they are credible
Yuck. Really? Aint no way Watson, at 20, could have put Syracuse on his back and lead them to the Big East Championship Game and that deep into the Tournament. The Big East was so tough this year. He's made up of more "good stuff" than Watson. It's not even close.
That's ridiculous. Watson is nowhere nearly as athletic, quick or strong as Flynn. In terms of athletic ability Flynn is a 6'0" Nate Robinson.
I am not really a huge fan of Flynn as a player and him being a 6' tall african american male Mother Theresa doesn't really matter much to me. Ed O.
Dude, that was a classic! I don't give a wet fart how cute and cuddly the kid is. IMHO the kid has a chance to be an honest-to-goodness NBA PG....and we could use one of those.
Exactly. Put that together with his sterling character, and he could be the guy Pritchard has his eye on. But I'm just speculating, of course.
True that. I don't think that any successful team can be built putting chemistry ahead of talent.. Ed O.
Oh I don't know about that. I majored in chemistry, and when you put the right ingredients together, you get an explosive combination. The key is getting the right type of explosion.
the hots??? Because he comes off well in interviews? Bob Costas has a son named Kirby after Twins great Kirby Puckett... the guy who tried to rape a complete stranger in a public restroom. I can list tons of sports guys who were hyped as great guys once upon a time only to turn out to be liars/cheats. Prospects are all coached on what to say by their agents. When they speak into a microphone, they are giving part of their multi-million dollar job interview. Of course they're telling you what you want to hear, this is a given... remember the sweet nothings once uttered by Telfair? but actions > words. What has the guy said and done along the way? I'm not saying Johnny is a good or bad fit or saying positive character is unimportant, more that I take what they're saying with a few grains of salt and let the pros get to the bottom of whats what. Portland collects a book on every single prospect that is supposed to be pretty complete. To the thread question... How many times have we heard KP state that in the 4th the ball is going to be in Brandon's hands and that he'd like to surround him with shooters. Johhny Flynn has some bounce for sure, but he hasn't demonstrated a consistent jumper... dude shot 32% from the shorter college 3 last year. Posters doubt if Ramon Sessions could thrive next to Brandon with his quesionable outside shot yet he shot 38% his final year in college. Flynn is quick, he can drive and dish, but will he be able to spread the court? I very much doubt that Blazer management will become so enamored with his sparkling personality that they just have to have him, as I'd imagine price to get up high in the lotto is pretty steep... like at least Batum or Rudy steep. notso hotso STOMP
