If we are to land Kirk, what do we do with the projected $8-10 Million in cap?

Do we turn our attention to Hedo Turkaglu?

    A starting unit of:

    Kirk
    Roy
    Hedo
    LMA
    Oden

would qualify as 'going for it'

Well depending on how the trade shakes out (draft day or postponed until after new salaries kick in) the amount of cap room could be really variable. My guess is that at a minimum we'll try to acquire a good backup power forward in free agency like McDyess, Bass, et al. and we might just use the balance to sign some cheap 11-14 roster spot talent.

yes, of course! But let's not get ahead of ourselves, first we must get Blair!

That's the Ed O. plan, and I endorse it (though personally I would rather have Gerald Wallace than Turkoglu).

If we get Kirk, I'd like to focus on Gerald Wallace, resurrect those talks and see what the asking price is now. Josh Childress and Marvin Williams are also interesting to me.

I guess I'm still stuck trying to keep the average age down. I just want more miles (minutes) out of the player we bring in than a couple of seasons.

Maybe I'll start to warm up to the idea of a Hedo or another player later.

An exchange of Blake/Travis or Blake/Martell for Hinrich wil increase Portlands salary $1.6 mil or so. This will take away from the estimated $7+ mil in cap space

and if the estimate of the cap going down $1.3 milll holds.. that means all of a sudden our cap space is about $4 mil

and if we get a #22 and keep it, it will dwindle about $1.5 mil or so more..leaving about $2.5 mil in cap space

that is in no way, a good starting point for Hedo or Lee, just in outright signings. It would have to take a S&T

IF we do get Hinrich, chances are CHI will waive one if not both, and maybe we will want to resign them

I still hope we try for Brandon Bass as a FA though

Drafting Blair and adding Hinrich is my plan?

    Did I really endorse/propose that?

Not that it's a horrible plan, depending on what we have to give up. I just don't remember saying that :)

That would be pretty sweet if we do an Outlaw\Blake for Hinrich, Chicago waives one (or both) and we get one (or both) back! I never thought of that. Freaking sweet!

Who is there in FA that is really attainable and would help the team that much? Andre Miller and Hedo? It sounds like Artest, Ariza, and Odom will all resign with their respective teams. No one else really jumps out at me.

You want Wallace--I got your Wallace right here

    http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=n6mbbt

    POR: OUT--Outlaw, Blake, Sergio, #22, #33; IN--Wallace, Lowry
    CHA: OUT--Wallace, Nazr, Bell, #12; IN--McGrady, Sergio, #22, #33
HOU: OUT--McGrady, Lowry; IN--Outlaw, Blake, Bell, Nazr, #12

Probably not enough for Houston (they'd probably rather just take Wallace than Outlaw/Blake), but it's a thought.

Wow! I've never seen a trade that increases the losses for all of the teams involved - by 4 or more no less!
    Impressive.

That being said, it sounds good to me.
