Well, Doug has an opinion on this.

The question is, what sort of assets will those be? If they're players we can immediately plug into the lineup (while still maintaining some long-term potential), that's great. If they're longer-term assets, we might as well start thinking about where to send Bosh, because we won't be nearly competitive enough to convince him to stay.

I'm with you on the Harden love.

Also, it sounds like BC copping out again. Every year he talks about grabbing another 1st rounder, and every year he pussies out. He's mentioned players himself, that would be worth grabbing in the mid-late first round, and every year we see teams trading into that area for barely anything.

i simply think they dont have the assets to trade unless he puts caledron and bosh into play. and for some strange reason i think he thinks caledron and bosh are the second coming stockton and malone. more and more im convinced this team will be a national embarrassment

FWIW, Doug Gottlieb has us taking Harden at 9

BC wants to but as deception said, we don't have much. The only asset we have to trade is Hump and some Money.

Considering the economic struggles of so many NBA owners, you'd think money would be enough for a late first rounder. It certainly has been in the past.

Doug Smith suggested that the Raptors have their targets ranked like this:

    1. Jrue Holiday
    2. Demar DeRozan
    3. James Johnson
    4. Jonny Flynn

so, the Lakers are trying pretty hard to unload their first rounder, would their be a guy worth taking that late in the first round? should colangelo jump on the opportunity?

I'm hoping there is. It's a fairly mediocre draft, but there is some value in the later rounds. I suspect BC'll watch and see who falls before deciding if he'll purchase another pick. Any deal will probably happen during the draft.

Draft picks are cheaper than free agents so GM's like those late firsts and early seconds.

Also, Colangelo said he was going to buy a first round pick to make up for the one lost in the Marion swap, though he didn't say it would be this year.

on the sidenote.. is the draft time xmas time for nba fans because every 5 mins a trade or hot rumour pops up.. i remember it wasnt this busy in previous drafts.. this draft gotta be one of the busiest..

It sure as hell is Christmas for a team that was out of the playoffs by December. Fuck, they need to start it already!
