Actually a lot of draft gurus have Claver pegged as a lottery guy next year, but he was already committed to staying in Spain for another year ... was Rudy a "wasted" pick at 24 a couple of years ago?
Does he count less against the cap if we don't actually sign him? Maybe that's why they went with a Euro prospect. Sheesh, pretty soon the Blazers will be able to start their own European TrailBlazers franchise with all their stashed picks. But have hope Blair lovers, only 4 more picks till we get to pick again.
Perhaps Blair is the #31 pick (non-guaranteed contract); for all his vaunted abilities a lot of teams are passing on him. Perhaps his knees really are in bad shape and that combined with his being somewhat pudgy do not portend good things. Gramps...
I'm guessing Blair is going to be 320 lbs within four years. I like him now, but how many guys do you see his size that keep their weight down?
F that. You don't work nearly as hard as Elgin Baylor, but he screwed up regularly. Way to bring in a stupid, non-sequitur into the argument.
Claver was going to Portland at #31 in Ford's final mock draft... does anyone really think that getting him 9 picks earlier is a MASSIVE reach? I trust that KP (a) really likes him, and (b) has a plan. Even when things don't work out (see: Sergio as a Blazer) I think that the process is a good one, and I trust KP knows what he's doing here.
