http://basketball.realgm.com/src_wiretap_archives/60090/20090625/rubio_likely_to_stay_in_europe/ Ricky Rubio's father gave an interview after the draft stating that his son is now likely to stay in Europe for one or two years, rather than signing in Minnesota.
Perhaps a leverage ploy? Hold "going back to Europe" over Minnesota in an effort to get them to trade his rights to a team he likes better? He's now assured #5 slot money, no matter where he got traded.
Yes but how is it going to expire? His rookie pay scale doesnt start until he comes to the NBA. A year doesnt disappear just because he stays overseas for a year
If he plays pro ball anywhere in the world, the TWolves will retain his NBA rights indefinitely. Obviously, they may prefer to trade him if they won't get his services.

Yup, I keep thinking some deal is going to be made before the night is out or at least done in the early part of July to try and bring in a veteran wing who can score and coexist a little more nicely with Flynn. I'm pretty sure we're out of the running with the assets we have and what Kahn would likely be looking for if he's committed to "making a splash"
