Why the hell did we move up from 24 to 22?

All the mocks I've seen had Claver going early to mid second round. Why did we have to send Dallas some of our assets for the privelege of paying a guy even more than we would have had to at 24. That's the one piece that makes no sense to me.

Ummmm, in case you haven't noticed, mock drafts are not always 100% accurate.

So the mavs and kings would have taken him? Bullshit. I think we fucked up and tried to turn it into something bigger, and when it didn't happen this Spanish scrub was our fallback.

Did you want another 2nd round pick that everyone could bitch about? They were not going to keep all 4. How much more did it cost us . $200,000? Sounds like they wanted the guy so they went after him like they always do.

I didn't see DeJuan Blair as a second-rounder in any mock draft. Some guy in his Mom's basement puts togethers a mock draft and suddenly it's legit?

Because there was word that Sacremento was going to take him with the 23rd pick, that's why.

Then you answered your own question. Whats wrong with trying to turn it into something bigger. So it didn't work out. Big fucking deal

Oh no! They would have taken a guy who will never play here? Oh nooooo!!!! The terror! The guy is going to play 2 years more overseas minimum and pull a Freeland on us.

Actually, the story was that they were after Casspi (true) and we moved up because we wanted him too (not true).

I guess. I had heard Sac had eyes for Casspi, not Claver.

It didn't cost us too much.. the draft was just anticlimatic as a whole. It's a little more upsetting to me that Sergio's value was so damn low, he was basically a salary dump and we had to pay the Kings to take him. Oh well.. shit happens.

We still only ended up with one 1st round pick. Capiche? The only thing we lost was two second round picks. We still had a shit load left.

I guess I just don't see the logic on this one. Won't come over for at least two years and plays our most loaded position.

Well, Pritchard said that Claver (Blazers have been targeting him for a long time now) and Pendergraph were the two players they targeted in this draft and their slight movement in the draft was to increase the odds of landing the players they targeted. If you have some information that contradicts this, please share. If not, some random opinion of a message board poster that has no idea what is going on behind the scenes doesn't mean very much to me.

We could have traded completely out of the draft and been better off.

IF and only if Claver doesn't work out. You and I have no clue on that. KP thinks differently.

Actually the story you heard was wrong, I heard from a good source that the Kings had brought in Claver a couple of times for workouts not Casspi. It really didn't matter anyway because it was either him or Blair and it turned out that Blair just kept free-falling. Who else should we have got?
