By that I mean is he going to become the new "cult" favorite amongst Blazermaniacs? I can hardly wait for the endless stream of debates about why he doesn't get more minutes than Bayless or Blake (Hinrich?) next season
I don't disagree ... but I can already see how this could shake out; for some reason there seems to be a segment of the fan base that loves foreign players no matter what and and another segment that hates them no matter what then everybody else who is more sensible.
I can see where you're coming from. Obviously you know my feeling about Mills. I'm not even going to pretend to be anything approaching fair or balanced. I'm 100% biased towards Mills. We may not bring him over, and instead ask him to play in Europe. If he does suit up, he will definitely be our 3rd PG behind Bayless. He'll get similar minutes to Bayless last season I would think.
Indeed, the same people who believe the Finnish kid is the next Terry Porter will be the ones calling for these losers to get time on the floor. The chances of any of these guys even making the team is small, much less being impact players next year.
I have no freaking clue. He can score - which is something Sergio never could. If he can develop another consistent talent - he is an upgrade.
Perhaps he's the next Tony Parker? I like what I've seen (interviews, videos, etc.). Summer league will tell. Far better selection than Green from a couple years back! Nash/Bayless/Mills ? Blake/Mills/Bayless? I think we'd better get some vet leadership at the 3. Not too high on Turk - but he's probably our best fit. Nash / Mills / Bayless Roy / Rudy Turk / Batum / Webster LA / Cunningham / VET? Oden / Pryz / Randolph That starting lineup looks sweet. So would the rotations. I'm thinking Mills may be a surprise!
Mills is the new Bayless. He's a too-short SG. We lost the only decent passer on the team. So no, Mills is NOT the new Sergio. Koponen is! Bring him over now!
No, more along the lines of "The chances for second round players for any team at any time to make an impact is very small. The same is true to a lesser extent for players picked in the 20's." You really shouldn't assume that I haven't seen any of these guys play. Do you really think anyone of these guys will have an impact on the team next year?
I think the Pac 10 puts out some pretty good PG's, so I have seen quite a few tear it up against my Ducks. And Mills' 37 in 2007 in his 4th game was right up there.
i never heard of Batum either, yet he started nearly the whole year for a 54 win team. Maybe Mills wil do the same?
When did Sergio become a good passer? Did I miss something? He's a great alley-oop passer, but we ain't the Globetrotters. Dribble into a crowd and send a hard pass to someone who is aruably not open and not in a good position to get the ball or take a shot. On the fast break, I guess I'd say he was a decent passer, but not in the half court. Let's have Sabonis come back and play PG. I loved the way that his passes hit the runner in stride, perfect position to make the easy shot. He made things looks so easy.
I like Mills! My worry is, Dickie-V is so high on him. And people Dickie-V like a lot, usually don't pan out lol But I have high hopes for him. It isn't like Bayless, where we wanted him to play backup and he was 3rd string. Mills is for sure a 3rd stringer. I kind of also get a Taurean Green feeling from him. But again, he is a 3rd stringer right now, as where we need him to be. Perfect pick at 55.
