Maybe Pritchard and company believe that Rubio isn't that good? He's a poor shooter and he's only average athletically.
I don't want him. He's such a whiner. "I don't want to play in Minnesota. It's too cold." Good lord, this kid thinks he's entitled to whatever he wants. I don't care how good you are, refusing to play for an NBA team is about as weak as it gets. I hope he goes to Minnesota, gets tired of being a back-up for Flynn, plays with LeBron in New York for a year after that, and then realizes he can't make it and has to go back to Spain. I hope his career fails (although I'm not betting on it).
This is none-sense. The kid will be in a huge financial loss (based on his buy-out) - to go play in the NBA, the T-Wolves were aware of the situation. I would say that if he is going to be in the red to that extent - he should at least have a say in where he gets to play. The teams have their leverage, the kid has his own. The team had the right to draft him at #5 and control his destiny as a professional basketball player in the US - he has the right to decide not to come and play for his team in Spain without paying the buy-out. At the end of the day - you can not really fault him for deciding he does not want to owe $5.5 million to have the honor of playing next to Bassy...
Little angry are we? Where is a link to where he said he doesn't want to play in Minny because its too cold? And I highly doubt that he would fail in NY if he was with LeBron.
The Knicks don't have a chance, IMO. David Lee - The Wolves have zero need for David Lee when they have two other PF's on the roster (Love, Jefferson) Nate Robinson - He's the LAST player you want to team up with the 6'0" Johnny Flynn. Jordan Hill - They have a better prospect already in place (Love) Wilson Chandler - Decent but not even remotely close to being worth Rubio. The Rubio-to-NY is all hype from NYC.
People use leverage all the time, in all walks of life. Why are athletes jerks when they use leverage? Honestly, I think this different standard of morality for athletes is a bit silly. Athletes can't go after the best financial opportunities or else they're "disloyal mercenaries." Athletes can't use the (rare) leverage they have as rookies, despite not getting to participate in a free market for their services for the first 4-6 years of their careers (depending on sport) without being branded a prima donna. Meanwhile, those in business are lionized for doing the same things.
I agree with Lamer. ya ya ya he can pass , blah blah blah. He is freakin 18 years old and was drafted to the NBA. THere are so many freakin Kids out there today that only dream of the chance to do that. All he does is complain and WE DO NOT need a player like that. we need players that cooperate and are about the team rather than themselves. FUCK RUBIO. Theres no star power for him
I was listening to the radio just now (after coming back from the Wolves rookie press conference), and Kahn said that Rubio is not available for trade unless names like LeBron or Wade are involved. So...there ya go.
People say a lot of things. He's not getting Wade, LeBron... OR Rubio. Apparently Real Madrid would offer Rubio a contract. They can probably pay what he'd get on a rookie scale at least, he'd be at home, in Madrid (hate to break it to you, but it's a bit nicer than Minnesota) and he wouldn't have a buyout. He'd be millions richer and adored for staying. That there pick Kahn made is either worthless for a LOOONG time or he trades it. And he's not getting any names "like" LeBron or Wade.
That wouldn't be Minnesota's concern. So presumably you mean that would stop Portland offering anything for him? I can't imagine Sergio would hype up playing for Nate. I wonder what Rudy would say.
Rubio will be in America playing within 2 years and for Minnisota if Kahn holds his ground. The sooner Rubio comes over the sooner he will be done worth his rookie deal
Good post. RR doesn't owe anyone anything. Why does he owe Minny? Because they called his name out on a stage in America?
