That's reassuring because I just read this on ww.net. Friday Amare Rumor Roundup Written by Jim Del Favero Friday, 26 June 2009 Curry press conference just completed, (fake moon landing style) it wasn't very convincing or long. 4 minutes total, 3 questions, clear the set, photo opp. Ray's comment on it says it best. It seemed like there should have been a hostage negotiator at the press conference. "Kerr, we have something that belongs to you. You have one hour before we hurt the kid." Update from Sheed as of 1:45pm PST. Curry included in the deal, 5 year extension for Amare, terms not disclosed. Deal is Beans/Wright/Beli/Curry forAmare/Clark Even more discussion today around the trade in the works between the Warriors and Suns. The story seems to change hourly, the most reasonable scenario is probably: -Warriors are still working to finalize an extension with Amare that is to their liking given his history if injury -Suns want Curry in the deal, Warriors didn't expect to land him, and don't want to include him These are a couple of big issues to be worked out. Amare is still young, and talented and fits into the W's system, but his attitude is a little too Corey Magette for my tastes. His microfracture injury, and rumors of needing another in a year or two, combined with his recent pirate eye problems make him a high risk signing. Biedrins is a solid young center. Wright is athletic and still a young big with smarts and potential. Belinelli showed some flashes of potential before his injury last year. Those three for an oft injured Amare seems reasonable. Asking for Curry on top of that and the Suns better hope they have another offer on the table. Curry conference call / intro at 2pm PST. Still going forward. I don't want to give up Curry even though I don't like him. Does that any sense at all? LOL. I don't want Amare either because he probably won't like playing for Nelson and playing at C. Yeah, I wouldn't mind standing pat unless it's to get rid of Mags.
More detail on that here, including this nugget by Nellie: Doesn't get much more direct than that. I think we can safely stop talking about Curry in these trade talks and start talking about him as a Warrior now.
Meh. Nelson said the same thing about Monta. However, I would give him a thumbs up if deals Curry for Rubio since Rubio did not show up at the Wolves press conference.
You never really know what to make of it. Nellie is drumming up Curry as the closest thing to Steve Nash he's ever seen and the second best prospect in the draft but we can't discount the fact that he could just be holding Curry hostage to get more out of the Suns. What Nellie and Riley say means nothing really because they're notorious BSers and in a war with the Suns over Amare. Mully guaranteed JRich would be back and he was gone a few weeks later lol! BTW agree with you JV, I'm not a big fan of Curry but at the same time I don't wanna trade him either! dude is a legit deadly shooter and although I really doubt his PG skills it seems like D'Antoni, Nellie/Riley and other seem to be really high on him as a PG so its hard to argue with that.
Interesting video of GSW "war room" reaction and some takes on Curry via NBA TV. http://www.nba.com/video/channels/draft/2009/06/25/nba_090625_draft_pick7_sager.nba/index.html It seems like the Warriors were sincerely happy that Curry fell to them. But then again maybe it's so they have another piece to trade. But maybe they really want him on the team. Aldridge thinks they really do want him and he will be on the team come opening day.
I guess so, they are both BSers but sheesh, you tell a guy to "unpack your bags" and "go buy a house"? Something like that should never be said lightly, I really hope they aren't lying because I'd be tremendously disappointed in that kind of dishonesty. Doing something like that will earn you a bad reputation around the league really quickly.
Amare says on his twitter hes coming to GS but fwiw he jokingly said yesterday that he was going to the Lakers. Hes obviosuly having fun with the rumors but maybe this is legit? Here's a link, apparently Phx fans say its his real twitter page btw: http://twitter.com/Amareisreal
I'm going by his youtube and in that, he seems more like a SG imho. However, the reports I've been reading have been giving the Warriors A- and 9/10 for the Stephen Curry pick. Also, the Warriors reaction seems genuine and Nellie would not BS something this big to his own player. So, we'll have to see how Curry does in summer league.
monta and curry will be a great combo, and really only need to be on the floor together for 15 mpg or so, shouldnt hurt too bad on defense. yall have a team full of beasts. i would rather not get amare if i was the gm. monta curry randolph bwright beans not to mention sjax, buike, morrow, etc. maggs sux tho.
Yeah, that video of GS in the war room is great, when they show the T-Wolves take Johnny Flynn, everyone in GS war room is like "wooh-yeah!" They seemed generally surprised that Curry was still there. Maybe the suns want Mags instead ...
Not sure if when you are saying "by his youtube" if you mean the one posted recently in another thread. But that video/game was from his sophomore year. I think he made the transition to point more this season. But I could be wrong and maybe he was the point his sophomore season too. Looking at his stats he went from 2.9 assists per game to 5.6 between sophomore and junior seasons. So that may be some reason why he doesn't look like a point in that and perhaps other youtube videos, because in some of those games, maybe he wasn't the point guard.
I was going by this youtube of Stephen Curry:
Yes dd, I would love to see Randolph + BWright together on the floor at the same time. If we put mags on the floor, I feel like we'd have to get Sjax to control the ball on the 2nd unit with Marco Belinelli or Acie Law playing the point. Maybe slide Mags over to the bench and just play Anthony Morrow.
