I was reading LG and they said that on the radio yesterday, Jeanie Buss said that the league and the Lakers split the championship merchandise profit equally. We've sold 14x as much merchandise than we did in 2002. We have already doubled what Boston fans bought last year. That is some nice money coming this way. Anything helps in keeping Trev and Odom.
I saw a lot of championship gear worn by the fans during the parade. If all 100,000 people there averaged $50.00 in merchandise that's $5M.
I'm damn sure they came close to $50. That shit was so expensive. That is just the parade alone. Imagine all the internet orders?
I'm getting one too!!! Priority #1 is to retain our free agents 1. Trevor Ariza 2. Lamar Odom 3. Shannon Brown Then go from there. Shop around Jordan and Morrison, dangle our 1st, or Bobcat's 2nd to see if you can sweeten the deal. I wouldn't be surprised if we ended up trading Jordan+1st for basically nothing just to clear up some cap, since Morrison is probably immovable. Use all the money you got during the championship run to resign Trevor, Lamar, and Shannon (should be cheap). There's not many teams out there with cap space this year, and those who do have space most likely won't shell it out for Lamar, or Trevor. I'm guessing Trev gets MLE level deal and Lamar is back with a 7-8 mill type of contract. If one doesn't work out, maybe try to package Morrison with Jordan and 1st rounder instead to find a backup. In Mitch we trust. In Jerry we trust.
Does anyone have a clue how much do they get from 1 playoff night. Seating in Staples are most expensive in the whole league, right?
Multiple times now, Odom has made a comment about what is doing best for his family. A lot of times, that is the smoke screen for -- "I'm taking the most money offered to me." :[
The most money offered probably will be MLE. We can give him more than that, like around 7 mill. Unless a team with cap space ponies up and offers him a huge deal, I don't see him leaving. And I don't see any team with cap space doing so. There aren't that many teams out there with space to begin with, those who do are either saving for 2010, or have no need to offer a 30 year old, 3rd option the 10-12 mill he may be looking for. I think once he tests the market he will realize his true value. He's not gonna generate much interest beyond MLE, at least not in my opinion. I see both him and Trevor returning.
The Raps are trying to Sign and Trade Chris Bosh... Why not trade Bynum for him??? LOL Pau at the 5, CB at the 4... more proven, consistent and athletic compared to Pau and Bynum. But Bynum still has more potential though... http://realgm.com/src_wiretap_archives/59928/20090619/toronto_hoping_to_sign_and_trade_bosh/
I don't know if he's necessarily more proven than Pau, Gasol has been in the league longer and just won with us. What do you guys expect from Bynum next year? How is his healing progressing?
Bosh for Bynum is retarded. I'd reject it in a heart beat. People think Pau is soft? God, Bosh is soft enough to wipe your ass with.
im just hoping we retain each player who is on the championship roster, well maybe not ammo or sasha, and we have the same team. that is we have a rested squad, a fully recovered bynum, a fully and well rested kobe, an improved ariza (i assume he is going to work harder to keep improving on his shooting, etc) and a more content and realized odom (that is he finally settles into his role on a team, which he did these playoffs). hopefully fisher returns to the form he has been at this season and doesnt continue to decline in productivity, oh and i hope shannon improves his game a little more, same as farmar. i think all these things are almost garenteed to accur, pending something horrible happening. I beleive the lakers will come back next season new and improved, kobe will have an even better year as he will be well rested and has a whole offseason to himself to work on his game more. Pau is going to continue to get tougher. Lakers wil come back as the best team in the league, and will end it that way, so im not realy worried whetherr bynum goes back to averaging double-doubles or goes 20-10, it would be nice but we have this league on lock right now, so if bynum continues to put uip good D then he is playing a huge part in us winning it all again next finals.
Lol. Bynum expert If he is healthy, he'll get his confidence, touch, and timing back. He takes awhile to get going from injury. Remember the start of this season? He turned it on, and dominated, though. I think we'll see the same next year. Plus, working out with Dwight Howard can only help him. He should be resting and getting the knee 100%. He'll be just fine if he stays healthy.
Just wondering, when we resign guys, like let's say Lamar, can we backload the contract? Like give him a 3 or 4 year deal, starting out at 6 mill or so and increasing to 9? That way we won't be so financially constrained this year, and next offseason Fish, AMMO, Farmar's contract comes off, nearly 15 million. After that Sasha's contract comes off the books, so the extra kick in the contract won't really hurt Buss so much financially.
