If you exercise your legal rights to quit your job and go somewhere else, perhaps your boss would view you as a jerk, but probably not if he or she is mature. Not wanting to live and play in Minnesota and preferring to live and play elsewhere is a perfectly reasonable desire. People decide where they want to live and work all the time. It's certainly a good reason for immature people to consider him a jerk.
