    $8m
    $9m
    $10m
    $11m
    $12m

    That's five years, $50m.

What do people think about a deal starting at $8m a year?

If the Magic manage to land Sheed, you can crown them before the season even starts.

A 35-year-old Turkoglu making $10-12 mil? Yikes.. I guess if Paul Allen is willing to pay it and if the team thinks he's the piece, I'm on board.

The article also mentions Bass, I wonder how much he would command.

Yuck. Unless there is a team option after the 3rd year. Ugly deal for a guy with questionable defense and not the greatest offensive production when he was handling the rock an awful lot. He would look a lot less proficient in Portland where we have Roy, a PG and him handle it.

I'm fine with the first two years, even if Hedo isn't my ideal acquisition.

The last three years, though? Screams albatross. Paying a guy $10, $11 and $12 million for his ages 33, 34 and 35 seasons seems like a really bad idea. He's not elite now, he's damn sure not going to be anything close to elite then.

Invert that and I would do that. Start out at $12m to lure him and as he gets older his pay decreases.

really hes loosing money due to inflation over time and the deal is essentially 10 mil a year so you cant like the first half of the deal and then dislike the 2nd. As a whole i think its fair, I'd do that deal if there was a team option for the 5th year basically making it a 4 year deal. I think Andre Miller can be had for a better price and he'd fit the team better. But what do i or you know.... In KP I trust

He's an upgrade obviously but something about acquiring him just doesn't feel right. I just don't feel like he is the right piece, but that's just my opinion. I can't argue he wouldn't upgrade the team but something just seems....off.

    Hello darkness, my old friend
You can if you think he's about $7-8 million / year player. I like the first couple of years and not the final three, so I wouldn't extend such a deal to Turk. Someone's going to overpay him a lot for his playoff performance, I just don't think it should be Portland. Unless there's absolutely no other way to use the money. I guess I'd rather the Blazers took on a bad contract for a useful player (assuming Allen was still no less willing to extend the other Blazers in the future) rather than let the cap space disappear unused.

After seeing how much Hedo wants, and knowing that 07-08 was his peak, I dont want him for that much scrilla. I'd rather let Det. sign him then trade for Prince, or sign Ron Ron, or make a lopsided trade netting us a vet 1 or 3.

I get that same feeling and that was before I saw the contact he wants. I think the Blazers should look for someone else for our SF. I been wanting Gerald Wallace for the longest time now and see him as a better fit.

But the PG spot better get a upgrade first before our SF. I am fine with Butum and Webster as our SF as long as we get a good PG.

Yikes. That is a bit much. I agree with everyone saying that 11-12 mil for a 34-35 year old Turk does not sound good to me.

I would rather have an old Artest then an old Turk.

Two problems with that deal: in light of the $50 mil price tag...

1.) Hedo is only a career 43% shooter, even if his 3-point percentage is quite good. Still - 12 ppg career? Seems hardly worth $10 mil per year.

2.) Hedo is only two years younger than Peja Stojajovic, and the two of them have similar games when comparing the two of them at 30. I wouldn't want to be paying $10 mil three years from now, when Hedo is where Peja is now.

a five year fifty million dollar deal is awfully steep in my opinion, I'd rather try to swing a trade for Gerald Wallace or sign Artest than spend that kind of scratch for a player that doesn't play great defense and isn't exactly a high percentage shooter. If his asking price was closer to 40 million over five years or maybe even 45 million (which would be my absolute limit) I'd probably give it some serious consideration.

I guess if you're going to overpay for a guy I'd rather it be somebody on the right side of thirty and less likely to become an albatross in year's 3, 4 and 5.

I'm on the artest bandwagon cheaper, better defense and probably bout the same shooting only thing your missing is clutchness which we have Roy for.
