The New York Yankees dominated the New York Mets by a score of 5-0. Starting for the Yankees was A.J. Burnett and he got the win. Are the Mets this bad or are the Yankees this good? Probably a little of both. The Mets had a joke of a lineup and the Yankees had a pretty decent pitcher on the mound. Talk about making a team look small, Burnett and the Yankees bull pen held the Mets to one hit and the Yankees hit bombs out of Citi Field which is supposedly hard to do. This thing with Jorge not being a good catcher. I wasn’t surprised Burnett pitched well with Posada behind the plate because the Yankees were playing away from home and there was no wind tunnel to expose Posada’s inefficiencies. Not only that, the Mets can’t hit. I’ll give Jorge a “little” credit. Saying that, from the first inning on, Burnett was sharp. He was mixing it up with more breaking balls and his fast ball was reaching 94-95 mph. This guy can throw a no hitter on any given night. I never realized how dominant he could be even if it was against an inferior Mets’ lineup. He was using his change up enough when he didn’t have command of his fastball. He threw a one hitter threw seven innings. Imagine that? That’s pretty great. It’s good he didn’t have a no hitter going the whole game because then he would of had to have a higher pitch count. I hear all the time how Mets stadium is supposed to be a pitcher’s park but the Yankees have been slamming home runs all over the place! They made that park look tiny. Yankee stadium is not a band box as much as people think because the Yankees hit home runs in every park. Heh. The Bronx Bombers. The Yankees against right-handed pitching are throwing a DEVASTATING lineup out there. You have Tex, Posada, Swisher, Cano and Brett Gardner. That’s a lot of good left handed hitters. If you are a right handed pitcher, it HAS to scare you. Not only that, you have to face A-Rod too. Once hip hip Jor HAY! homered in the sixth inning. I knew the game was over. The Yankees overwhelmed the Mets and the Mets were psychologically out of it by then. What’s really weird is how not too long ago I was getting fed up with the Yankees and their hitting. Now, not so much. Winning does that. It makes Yankee fans and bloggers happy. Player of the Game: A.J. Burnett. One hitter through seven says it all.
