Is the fact that our rookies haven't been introduced a clue that not all of them are staying past early July? If not, how many will show up, and when?
Another question: when was Bayless introduced last year? Not that introductions are always indicative of who's going to be a Blazer (see: Trent Hassell), but it'll be interesting to see when the second rounders are introduced (if they are, given the uncertain nature of them making the roster even if they're not traded). Ed O.
Bayless was introduced along with the other new Blazers after the trade went through July 8th. So you're saying that these second rounders might not be introduced since they're part of a trade?
I doubt the rooks will be signed until after the summer league - so there is a good chance - not for quite some time... Bayless was a 1st round pick with a guaranteed contract. These guys are not.
Do any players, however scrub-like, play in Summer League without contracts? I thought even Steven Hill last year was signed to a non-guaranteed contract. They have to have insurance, don't they?
What are you basing this on? Not on other teams, I presume - a bunch of teams have already introduced their players. GState has introduced Curry, despite the fact that he was rumored in a trade. Of course, they've said he's not included, so maybe introducing him was a way of hammering this point home...
So they will be introduced with the new acquisions? That makes a lot of sense. It also screams out that at least one of them is part od some deal.
Why introduce second-rounders at all? They don't have a guaranteed spot on the team, and Claver isn't going to sniff the U.S. in a few years.
I think the key to this whole thing Alex is that they will be introduced after the oficial date we can sign FA's. That's what that date is all about
They can have a summer league contract. I doubt Portland will have a press conference to introduce the janitor in Westview high school who might get 10 minutes in summer league...
