Pick only one option and say how we obtain them. I wanted to expand on the Kidd/Miller poll option, because a lot of us here have other ideas in mind. The 5 given are the most obtainable/realistic. There is an other option, but no dumbass fantasies like Williams, Paul, or Parker.
After thinking about it, I want Kirk on this team, for his defense. It's not secret we are targeting Hedo, if we acquire him, we'll need our PG to give up the ball a lot and be able to shoot the 3. Kirk does both and he plays great defense. I also think he would come cheap. Maybe we could get him for Blake, Pendergraph, and Martell? I really love Blake's shooting, but his inadequate defense makes life a living hell for Greg Oden and other bigs.
I choose Kirk, as we were one of the most efficient offensive teams in the league last season, I think the team will benefit the most from adding defense. But I'd be excited if we added anybody on that list. My fear is we add nothing of value this offseason.
None of the above: I want a Point Forward. Is it a coincidence that all of our point guards are scorers... not playmakers? If you insert another playmaker in addition to Brandon Roy that it would ad a whole new dimension to this team. What's so hard to understand about this? Put Hedo on this team and all we need from the point guard position will be defense, scoring,.... just bring the ball up the floor, pass it to Hedo or Roy, ..... move and score. Sounds like the perfect role for Bayless.
Which PG plays best super slow, deferring to a SG on offense, can play good defense and be young and cheap for the fans.......That is my choice. They also have to be old enough to not need developed because our coach can not do that with PG's
Not Jack, he needed to be developed. But yeah, it's Blake. Theprfect PG for a Nate McMIllan team is one of the worst starting PG's in the league. Nice.
I think Jarrett is pretty much what he is for the rest of his career. I don't see a high ceiling that can be reached. He's just an average backup combo guard that can tease you with 30 points one game, and 5 the next with a game-losing turnover.
Out of the available PGs, I'd say Andre Miller. He would be the best PG to be able to get the offense rolling without having to rely on Brandon too much. Kidd would be a nice alternative as well. They're both getting long in the tooth, but as a 1-2 year stop-gap they are the best that's out there atm.
I said Kidd, narrowly edging out Kirk. What better player to learn under for Jerryd Bayless, Kidd has already worked with Nate on team USA and supposedly has a good working relationship with him (I think I saw one report that mentioned it?) and if you're looking for a player who has been through some wars and even took a so-so Nets team to the finals twice I guess he'd be my option 1a with Kirk as option 1b, Miller would be nice too, but from the things I've heard he's not exactly "leadership" material (could be a good thing I suppose).
Yeah, I must say I'm worried about Nate's seeming inability to deal with PG's in a rational manner. It's a bit scary actually.
Sessions. I think that many of them are about as good, with different strengths and weaknesses, but Sessions is much younger and that's the reason I'd prefer him. Ed O.
Can someone who accepted a QO be traded right now, or does it have to wait until next salary year? If so I wonder if maybe we could look at Sessions for Blake, cash and pick or something. milwaukee gets anohter #1, some cash and instant cash relief.
Yes. That is one argument in favor of Kidd or Nash, they are so well established (old) that Nate might be more likely to just let them do what they do. barfo
No, players who will become free agents (or restricted free agents) can't be traded after the February trade deadline. The only way he could be traded is in a sign and trade.
I don't see ANY of those guys helping us at all as long as Nate is coach. He abhors creativity from the point. Ironic that a PG with his history insists on de-valuing the position to such an extreme. My option is we get Sergio back by trading Snailball Nate to the Kings for him.
Oh? What good, creative point guard has McMillan stifled? Surely you don't mean Blake? Are you, like, some huge Steve Blake fan?
