Do you think the lakers will retire Shaq's jersey? Let's look at it, Shaq left the lakers on bad terms with Jerry buss. As long as Jerry buss is the owner, i don't see his jersery getting retired.I think it'd be sacralige for his jersey not to be retired, ultimate sign of disrespect. Shaq's an <Censored> but their is now way in hell you cant retire it.

It would be disrespectful not to retire it. Sure things ended on a bad note but you cant disregard what he did for that team. He won them 3 NBA championships.

They won't retire it. Don't see it happening, plus it would be akward.

It should and probably will. He did a lot for the franchise.

There's no way in hell Shaq's jersey isn't getting retired. He was the center piece of 3 championship teams.

He deserves to but I don't see it happening. He's 35, and he'll probably play for about 3 or 4 more years. And he loves it in Miami. and if he wins a championship there, who knows how his legacy will end. but i can't imagine shaq smiling in staples center with Kobe and the rest of the Lakers at that time when he would get his jersey retired.

Whether or not he wins a championship in Miami, the Lakers SHOULD retire Shaq's jersey. The guy won the franchise three championships, and is in a long line of great Laker centers. If the Lakers do not retire Shaq's jersey, that will be an extremely unclassy move by the organization after everything he has given them, regardless of the terms of their break-up.

I'd like that and I'd also like to see Kobe walk out of the floor and shake his hand when it does.

As much as I hate shaq, and thats a lot, he definatley deserves for his jersey to be retired, without him the lakers would have 3 less playoff rings

Definitely it should be, but as Lefty said it would be pretty awkward with all the Shaq/Kobe rivalry and all.

Put it this way.Shaq was in Los Angeles for 8 years.Out of those 8 years they went to the Finals 4 times.Out of those 4 Finals Appearences they won the Championship 3 Times4 MVPs in Total.(3 Finals MVP and One Regular MVP)Other than Magic I think he's the best Laker ever.

Shaq won his Finals MVPs against weak competition. The most valued player on the court isn't the guy who has to go through little effort against Todd MacCullouch, Rik Smits and Dikembe Mutombo, it's the guy who provides the team with the most credentials and plays a strong offensive and defensive game against players who usually light up their opposing teams, players named Kidd, Iverson and Reggie Miller.Shaq deserved one MVP, against Dikembe...but the other two belonged to Kobe.As for Shaq's jersey being retired, sure...I really don't care...but I wouldn't mind them using a crane to hang him up there by his waist with the jersey.

He still dominated those centers how weak they really were. He put up 30ppg, that deserves something.Kobe was the playoff the mvp especially when he destroyed the kings in the first round and then the spurs in the next.

That doesn't make him most valuable, that makes them most vulnerable.Billups didn't deserve the Finals MVP two years ago. I think Gary Payton would've been picked apart by Cassell, if he wasn't sitting the bench with back spasms. The real Finals MVP was the man who out-rebounded O'Neal, and had a hand in the passing lane on every Laker possession: Ben Wallace.Do something valuable to get the award. Do something you can brag about. I could score 30 on Todd MacCulloch.

Are you forgetting that Shaq's presence alone opened up the offense so much more for the other players on the court, including Kobe?Regardless of how weak the competition is for him, he still dominated them. Shaq deserved those MVP's over Kobe, easily.

It was a two-way street between the two, which is why they were so successful in the first place. If anything, there should've been co-MVP's for at least one of the Finals' series, the Nets series. Kobe should've won the Pacers one, where Kobe put the entire team on his back as Shaq sat out. Laker fans know exactly what I'm talking about. Shaq can have it against the DPOY, Dikembe, and the Sixers.

I am pretty sure they will retire it. I mean when you are pretty much the main reason for three rings why not retire his jersey?
