INDIANAPOLIS (AP)—The Indiana Pacers have made qualifying offers to point guard Jarrett Jack(notes) and forward Josh McRoberts(notes), making them restricted free agents. Jack’s agent, Jeff Schwartz, said Tuesday that his client has enjoyed playing for the Pacers. The Pacers announced the offers in a news release. Jack averaged a career-high 13.1 points per game last season while sharing the starting job with T.J. Ford(notes). Team president Larry Bird said at the end of the season that he wanted to make the offer to Jack, but said as the draft approached the right point guard could make Jack expendable. The Pacers did draft Connecticut’s A.J. Price(notes) last week. McRoberts averaged 2.4 points per game last season. Free agents can begin negotiating with teams on Wednesday.
Better for Portland. Now it would be much harder for KP to resign JJ. Maybe even hard enough to prevent him from even trying.
Since I am trying to start being positive about the off season, I can't really respond. Let's just say that we traded Blake two years ago and leave it at that.
I am pretty sure Pritchard made the move to bring him back. Not quite as sure about the move to trade him to Denver.
Because he's a solid, steady PG who wanted to come to Portland for a very reasonable amount of money and could transition us into our next PG. But then again, what do I know?
Larry Harris, who was the Bucks GM at the time, traded Blake to Denver for Earl Boykins and Julius Hodge. Steve Patterson was officially the Blazers GM when Blake was traded, along with Brian Skinner and Ha Seung-Jin to Milwaukee for "all-star" center Jamaal Magloire. Of course, that also means Patterson was officially our GM when Brandon Roy and LaMarcus Aldridge were drafted. Yet. Kevin Pritchard gets credit for that draft and the record six trades the Blazers made that day. So, shouldn't he also get "credit" for the Blake/Skinner/Ha for Magloire trade that happened five weeks later? BNM
I am pretty sure that there were reports that KP and Nate were against the Blake trade - and my understanding is that Paul Allen put KP in charge of the draft because he was the one that lobbied to get CP3 in the draft before.
