He likes Adelman for a reason..... How would he deal with the restrictions he would have here? ... RAHHH ARTEST MADDDD ARTEST SMASHHHH And it's not enough to just say, "oh, we made a mistake, but it only costs us three years." You can't think of it like that. This is the last time we're going to be able to add a significant player, blowing this opportunity will be a monumental mistake.
I view this offseason as a means of opening the window before it should be opened....if you get what I mean. Needless to say, you really don't want to fuck this up because it might extend our window a few years. Artest is too big of a ? for me to want him.
Well.....I don't think KP would have pursued Shaq if he didn't think our window is one player from open. I believe management thinks our time starts now. And if that's the case, then Artest is a GREAT acquisition. He doesn't really hurt us at all. If he doesn't work out, we still have 6-7 years of a window. Don't be surprised if Artest is KP's guy. Really. Don't.
Problem with Artest is he instantly rules the locker room. Roy is a leader but Artest scares the shit out of people.
I don't believe the Shaq crap, but just so you know, Shaq is a gigantic 2010 expiring, so he might have been trying to set up something bigger, rather than just acquire Shaq's talents. (Plus he could mentor Greg) You didn't really understand what I meant by the window thing. I think that IF Portland acquires a free agent that really works out well THIS offseason, than our time starts now. If he does nothing, or gets a free agent that doesn't work out, it sets us back a bit. That's why I'm reluctant on Artest...you can't just brush it off if it's a mistake and say it won't really affect us.
Hmm. Shaq's 2010 expiring is what makes the idea fail safe. Yes, I agree, one layer of the acquisition is that Shaq would be able to help mentor Greg. The the other layer would certainly be that KP felt we were close enough to compete for the whole ball of wax. I don't think KP trades for Shaq for only these two reasons: Mentor Greg & a massive expiring contract in 2010. Shaq would have been tradable after last season (obviously.....see Cleveland). I don't think KP had any intention of holding Shaq until his contract expired, but if he did, we still win.
More than Yao, Scola and Adelman? Fuck yes. Not even close. Two of the three Rockets I just mentioned don't even speak English. This is obvious to me. And way to leave Sarge out of your argument. That was convenient.
Am I prescient or what? First Sergio to Sacto, now this... I now predict that Deron Williams will be a Blazer very soon...
