I do yes. He plays the pick and roll good. He fits with our culture, which is more important then ppl give it credit for. He is a great shooter, which will open up the paint for LMA and Oden. He is a great passer, not selfish. A good fit and maybe a bit of a risk, but a good risk. He can also play some backup PF and some point forward if we need another ball handler, so Roy doesn't have to do all the work.

That would make the most sense and I would be cool with that. With Hedo coming, SF is flooded and we can afford to use one to get a better PG.

LMFAO! Yeah, Claver is a reason to not sign Hedo. I hope you are joking. Webster is not proven to do anything, so who cares? Outlaw has shown his worth. Batum will still play.

    I know right?! Hilarious!

What are you, Debbie Downer? Stop crying in every post you make.

Sessions is NOT going anywhere. Get over that.

Melancholy Molly? Chill out dude. Go hit the bong.

Odens extension will happen next year.

Yup, he hasn't done us wrong yet.

    ----------

I think this is great news. I myself have been on the fence about Hedo, but all in all I would be very pleased to see him here.

Portland Trail Blazers coach Nate McMillan is flying to Orlando to have a Wednesday night dinner with the Blazers' top free-agent target, Hedo Turkoglu.

I think he really is are target. This isn't a smokescreen anymore.

I didn't read the article, but he will also be in Portland tomorrow touring the city and facilities.

I wonder if he and Nate will be flying first class, or Blazer1 first class?

I don't think it matters much if teams score on Portland then they did last year as long as Portland increases their own scoring.

Which I think would happen with Hedo on the floor instead of Batum.

That's a very good point. Championships are hard to come by, and getting just one is all we should care about. However, I guess I'm worried that Hedo might start going downhill right away, and thus not be able to help us get even that one championship. Perhaps I'm just being paranoid.

With his great wingspan and pullupability Nate will glide into Orlando like an eagle. Oh wait, this is free-agency, not the draft. Scratch that.

It's a tough one because there is no way you could find a Celtic fan that is upset they traded Jefferson for Garnett because they won. Had they not won though it would be an entirely different story.

Not the best comparison because we wouldn't be giving up anything close to Jefferson to acquire Hedo.....If anything at all

This part caught my eye . . .
Sounds like this is almost a done deal already, according to this writer.

This is definitely a possibility, but it is true for each and every player on the roster... Webster is just what? 22? And he might never be the same again...

Hedo is less than a year older than Blake. He is not past his sale-by date yet, it seems.

Yup, there's always factors you can't really determine. What if Roy suffers a season-ending injury?

Ric Bucher, via Twitter, said Western Conference teams are fearful the Blazers will land Hedo.

"Hedo is a playmaker. Outside Roy, they don't have a playmaker."

I think this is really important. All championship contenders last year (Except maybe Cleveland - But they had Lebron) had at least two playmakers.

    Kobe/Odom

    Rondo/Pierce

    Billups/Melo

Parker/Manu (Injured, so they lost in the first round)

    Nelson/Turkoglu - Now Nelson/VC

Re: Quick reports talks with Hedo's agent / Hedo Turkoglu discussion

The amount of money we pay Turkoglu matters because rosters always change over time. Anyone who thinks the starting 5 we have this November will be the same starting 5 in four years hasn't been paying attention to history. At some point, we'll want to adjust our roster, and who do you think we'll most likely look to move? Roy? Aldridge? Oden? I don't think so.

Odds are that we move Turkoglu and/or whomever is our new PG down the line for younger pieces that fit the team's needs at that point.

Doesn't anybody remember Damon Stoudamire? If he'd been on the $3-5 mil/year contract he was worth during the first half of this decade, we would've shoved him out the door and been rid of him. Instead, he was making such ridiculous amounts of money that our GM once joked he couldn't trade him for a chair.

A five year contract approaching anything close to $10 mil/per sounds to me like a very difficult contract to move in a few years when (hopefully) Batum takes over the starting SF role.

I love how much flexibility our GM has right now. I realize a lot of that goes away when we sign the Roy, Aldridge and Oden deals. I'd just rather not see us lose even more of that flexibility by making a deal that will look overpriced in a few years. I'd feel differently if I thought Hedo was the missing piece in a championship team, but I just don't see him like that.

Lets not forget that even if we do give Turk a 5/$50 mil contract, we can front load it. If we offer him 8, 9, 10, 11, 12 mil per, we can flip flop it to start out at the high end and decrease to where he could be an $8 mil expiring in his last season, which is easier to trade. Teams in the past have liked having large expiring deals, but they are not as attractive anymore.

Re: Quick reports talks with Hedo's agent / Hedo Turkoglu discussion

Personally, and I don't want to sound like a broken record, here is what I think:

-- I think that Hedo will make us better. He is a better player than Batum right now, and he will provide experience and depth to the team... in other words, Hedo is better than nothing
-- I think that Carter would have made us significantly better than Hedo will. Carter is an incredible offensive weapon and an overall better player
-- In the long run, I think taking on Carter's shorter contract would make more sense than signing Hedo to five years. I expect Batum to surpass Hedo in the next three years and he would have been able to step in for Vince if Portland declined to pick up Vince's third year.

I wish I were excited by the acquisition of Turkoglu. After looking at the stats and knowing how inconsistent he is, I just am not.

    Ed O.
