I'd be intrigued by a Roy/Rudy/Hedo ball-handling team; if it makes Rudy happy and the end result is better than Blake/Roy/Batum, I'm golden.

That's exactly why I think he is upset (if this is true). We are trying to bring in a player who duplicates many of his strengths.

Well.. there were several times last season where Brandon and Blake ignored Rudy on the floor. And you'd see Rudy throwing his hands up in the air like he was frustrated at times with the offense.
I can see it. It's not Brandon's fault though, but Rudy has a lot more playmaking skills than what he showed.

    Re: Rudy may want out?

Notice that the key issue for Rudy is not getting Hedo but the way he was used by Nate.

Who is to say that Nate wouldn't use Hedo in the same piss poor manner?

Rudy has a decent handle and court vision, he just never really got to use it.

Maybe next year all we will really see is a 10 million dollar spot up shooter that stands at the baseline 3 while Roy goes 1 on 5 again.

I just wonder if Rudy has a point. I would hate for Portland to send him down the road and realize the issue was really the coach's system.

Well this sucks. Rudy is easily one of my favorite players on the team. However, I've always felt that he would eventually want to be moved, simply because I don't think he will want to be a career backup. He's too young for that. I believe Rudy will want to go somewhere and start. We can't offer him that unless we plan on playing him at point guard.

Rudy is so overhyped by our fans, I hope we hoodwink a gm into thinking he is better than he really is..Harris here we come!

    Re: Rudy may want out?

Well I agree. If he doesn't want to be here, then I don't want an unhappy player on the team. This is just really upsetting...

    Re: Rudy may want out?

Well Pritch better figure that out, like, yesterday. I don't want to lose two quality players now (Rudy, and yes, I'm lumping in Rodriguez) because of a flawed coaching system.

Fuck. I was having such a good day too.

He's not overrated. He's underutilized horribly by Nate McMillan. The fact that he averaged 11 PPG in our snail paced offense as a backup is telling.

Rudy will breakout as a starter

    ...On another team, of course

So would we rather have a 30-year-old Hedo or a 24-year-old Rudy, and give Rudy some more playmaking opportunities?

I can understand where Rudy is coming from if this is true, but he is absolutely LOVED by Portland fans. He won't get this kind of support with any other team.

I agree 100% that Nate totally misused Rudy last year. Rudy has a lot more playmaking potential than he was allowed to demonstrate in McMillan's totally predictable and slow offense. Makes me wonder if Hedo isn't going to be misused as well.

That being said, unfortunately Rudy is on the same team as Roy. So something has to give. If we can turn him (along with several other players/picks) into Harris or Paul I'll be thrilled.

But I just wonder if we won't need a new coach to know what to do with all that talent. I really don't think Nate has a good coaching mind for doing anything uptempo or free wheeling. What's the point of all that young athletic talent if it's held back by a conservative, control freak coach?

    Re: Rudy may want out?

That must be why he ran baseline alley-oops to his SG off of back picks. Because he has "no creativity". :dunno:

I'd rather have Rudy than Hedo for anything more than a year or two, given their contracts and ages.

I don't blame Rudy, if true, for being frustrated and for being honest about it if he did. He came over to the NBA and gave up a considerable amount of money... for what? So he could come off the bench as a spot-up shooter in one of the lowest-scoring offenses in the NBA?

The Blazers don't OWE Rudy a bigger role, but he doesn't OWE them excitement at what he considers to be bad coaching and/or positioning of his career by his employer.

Hopefully this all is a misunderstanding/misreporting and there's nothing to it, but if it's true I hope we can at least extract value out of him rather than having to let him go back to Spain like Memphis did with Navarro.

    Re: Rudy may want out?

Rudy never showed the ability to hit anything but a dunk/layup or a long ball. I assume he eventually will, but last year he threw up bricks whith his turn around 15 footers. He needs to work on his in between game.

But this is exactly why I am not thrilled with the Euros. Especially Spanards. If you can get value....trade him now or we will go through this every year. They have too much leverage to stay over seas.

That's not much of an argument at all.
